Re: RIP Hannes Strydom
Damn! A few weeks ago, I was reflecting on the players in the 95 RWC final who have passed away. Springboks - Chester Williams, James Small, Joost Van Der Westhuizen, Ruben Kruger and now Hannes Strydom. ABs - Jonah Lomu. Other than Strydom, the others passed due to illness / medical condition. RIP...

Yep. And this time we'll have 4 years to prepare, instead of 3 (thanks Covid)OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 6:40 am The Springboks have Rassie. As long as he remains that 3rd WC in a row is highly possible.
We have that biggest depth as is. Can only improve from here.

Chuck a handful of firelighters in there, and make sure there's enough air circulation. And then just give it time, you should see it spreading after a while.

Re: What's wrong with SA?
You still wouldn't move back with your children if it was the crime ridden hell hole that people seem to think. True, but a player returning to SA is also returning to his family. Even if they're from a rough area, the money they are returning with would allow them to set themselves up in a very ni...

Re: Official statement from Bongi Mbonambi re : the incident
Look in the mirror assfly. You are supporting your player because he is your player. So you have no evidence that he didn’t say anything, just a feeling that he wouldn’t? I don’t know what actually happened just as much as you don’t know what happened. But for your player to start gloating about it...

Re: Official statement from Bongi Mbonambi re : the incident
Bongi's "crass" statement and the jokes in South Africa are testament to how f**king ridiculous the false allegations were in the first place. South Africa has suffered exponentially from racism. It has unfortunately defined who we are as a country, and the Springboks are testament to an inclusive s...

What would you have liked him to say?
He's been accused of being a racist by the RFU, with no evidence.
It was in the public domain very quickly that this was a language issue.
The RFU should be apologising to him, and hoping he doesn't go legal.

Re: Official statement from Bongi Mbonambi re : the incident
I don't blame Curry at all for it. All he did was ask the question, in the heat of the moment.
World Rugby did an investigation and found no supporting evidence to warrant any further action.
The RFU, on the other hand, have come out of this looking like complete twats.

Re: Will Sam Cane have to face the Judiciary after his RWC Final Red?
Squidgy Rugby said in his World Cup video that all the other countries had adapted to the new laws about tackling, except for Japan, England and New Zealand. He was of the view it was a red card. I remember making this observation before the world cup started, either here or NPR. From what I saw of...

Re: What's wrong with SA?
This discussion always seems to attract extremes on both sides. It's either a 3rd world hell-hole or the best place in the world. I think it's somewhere in the middle, and largely dependent on your income. On a rugby forum, you're going to be getting the opinions of mostly middle-class fairly well-o...

Re: Rugby: The sport with the fastest growth in Africa
Rugby in Kenya is already hugely popular. As pleased as I am with the Bok win, I don't see that having much of an impact here. Kenya joining the Currie Cup was a wonderful gesture by SARU, but Kenya cancelled their participation halfway through because they couldn't afford it. It's not a professiona...

Re: SA are the world champs....but...
I think it's a bit of a reach saying the Springboks are growing the game in Africa. Most Kenyan rugby fans I know and interacted with over the last few weeks were supporting the All Blacks. I don't know why. It was great to allow Kenya into the Currie Cup 2nd Division competition, but I think most w...

We weren't discussing anything. But maybe they know something that you don't. I'd love the racist to try a legal case against the RFU. You're all over the place. I hope SARU do sue, but I can't imagine there is much left in the RFU coffers after paying Eddie Jones off. Enjoy your 3rd place pl...

But you said you had evidence, which was an obvious lie. You're getting flustered. We were discussing Bongi's evidence of defamation by the RFU. The evidence is their statement. If the RFU had correctly used the word allegedly then we wouldn't even be having this conversation. They decided against ...

Re: Tom Curry accuses Mbonambi of racial abuse
WR didn't say he didn't do it, they said there was insufficient evidence to charge him at this time. That suggests that they believe that there is more to it. If they didn't think that they would have dismissed it. So yes, I believe that in the balance of probabilities, the comment was made. No dou...

Re: 2023 Rugby World Cup Final Match Thread - NZ Vs South Africa
Is the 7-1 split used by the boks as a way to get the ABs to bring on their forward subs earlier? We don’t have the same forward depth as them across the bench. Is it a way for the boks to get their pack playing less time against our top pack? It means our starting pack are going to empty their tan...

Should the B&I Lions tour South Africa instead of Aus in 2025?
Australia are in such a mess, they won't provide much competition to the mighty Lions. I know it will be tempting as the Lions will be guaranteed a much-needed series win to justify their existence, but nobody wants to see cricket scores. South Africa are world cup finalists again, and will provide ...

The difference he made to the $harks team when he joined was incredible.
And conversely we were a much poorer team when he left for Bok duty.

I do think I could have easily done better with better choices but I no longer beat myself about it. The past is immutable so what's the point? Meh. Stransky is a great commentator, I don't know why all of a sudden he's being quoted by so many websites as a guru. Next they'll be quoting former players whom we haven't heard from in 10 years. Clickbait. More importantly, everything out the Bok camp shows they are treating England with respect...
