Re: 2023 Rugby World Cup Final Match Thread - NZ Vs South Africa
Interestingly, the NZ backline also has potential dual-position players, but perhaps not as extensive as the Boks. Dickmo can cover 9 BB can cover 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 Will can cover 11, 14, 15 Rieko can cover 11, 12, 13, 14 Young Barrett can cover 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 Dmac 9, 10, 11, 14, 15...

I know why Foster chose Samisone over Dane. But I don't trust our lineout with Samisone. He could potentially cost us the game if the lineouts are Shakey, I suspect the Boks will be keen to kick into touch as much as they can We’ve got the best lineout in the tournament, he will be and has been fine.

Re: 2023 Rugby World Cup Final Match Thread - NZ Vs South Africa
What's the bet in the first few minutes SA drop the ball deliberately so they can have a scrum early? Maybe even kick it out on the full at kick off so they get a chance of an early scrum penalty... Much like the mark in the 22 for a scrum... they'll have a few nasty surprises for us... I hope they...

Foster dropping Coles for the Final against the Saffas reminds me of Razor dropping Crockett for the Final against some other Saffas.
Ballsy call by both men and probably the right one.
I hope the outcome is the same.
I’m gonna miss Coles, the mouthy bastard.

Long time ago but I'd swear Kronfield was the recipient of at least one try from Jonah in 95. Defenders beaten? For Jonah just assume he beat every back on every team he played Recipient? My recollection is that he ripped the ball out of Jonah's arms about a metre from the line and went over himsel...

Re: 2023 Rugby World Cup Final Match Thread - NZ Vs South Africa
So Kiwi's - you're not scoring 3 tries in first 30 min, so how panicked will you lot be with let's say a three-point score difference at halftime with no Bok injuries? I’m not sure why we need to score 3 tries in the first 30 minutes. All that matters is that we have more points than the Boks at fu...

Re: 2023 Rugby World Cup Final Match Thread - NZ Vs South Africa
7/1 is a huge risk. The AB forwards will do enough to win ball for the backs, who will also get some from the Boks kicking game. A backline realignment will stuff up their defence, and the AB backs will target that big time. Rassie putting all his eggs in one basket. You can bet Joe will be all ove...

Woke up this morning feeling excited, can’t believe we have another shot at the title. 2 months ago I was telling everyone who asked me that the ABs are no chance to win this year, never been so happy to be so wrong.
It’s going to be a long few days until Sunday morning but I can’t farking wait now.

I’m starting to get the same feeling I had before the Irish game. Quiet confidence that the boys will be on and we’ll have a game plan that will come up trumps. Person who leaked the team the last two weeks and was 100% correct said only change from Argentinian side was Laulala on the bench for Newell and Richie Mounga has slight injury with Beauden sitting in 10 slot at training. Re: 2023 Rugby World Cup Final Match Thread - NZ Vs South Africa
I remember there was a poll before the tournament asking if not your team, who would you like to see win it? I might have (stupidly) said the Boks. No way I want them to get 4 trophies before we do. I wasn’t expecting us to be here and that finishing 2nd will have been a good result for this team an...

I fully expect Aidan Morgan to be in the mix for the 10 shirt next year. Not because he is the best 10, I just enjoy watching the way he plays 8) Love started off as a ten too, I think he has a higher ceiling than Morgan and other 10 candidates, he has a great skill set and decent size to him. I’m ...

Wallaroos are playing well, set piece is standing up to the English. Just got to cut out the silly mistakes.
Aussie 13 holding the ball in two hands is making good yards.
Score and they are right back in this.

I’m reasonably confident about this game, watching the pressers, everyone seems focussed and not taking this for granted.
Maybe not as steely determined as last weeks pressers but on the ball just the same.
Come on black!

I think we should aim to be ahead at the full time whistle. That’s all that counts , it’s all well and good saying we should be ahead by this much after so many minutes but rugby isn’t like that, it’s an 80 minute game and we need to play the full 80, despite what the scoreboard says. Yep, this is ...

Possibly. Ardie has played the most minutes of any of our forwards. Whitelock and Barrett are next in minutes played while Cane and Frizell are relatively fresh. If we get out to a solid lead we might see Savea come off and Frizell move to 8. I hate this talk of, if we have a solid lead, yes I unde...

I'm happy with that team, a few minor tweaks to keep the energy levels up but nothing drastic. Like everyone else would have liked Roigard off the bench but it is what it is and hopefully we have a decent lead by the time Christie gets a run. I hope Roigard is in the bench. Just a word on ALB, I have never been a big fan but he has impressed me with every outing at this tourney so I’d be comfortable if he got a start, I don’t see it happening but he appears to be playing his best rugby at this World Cup. Such a minor thing. So he shushed the crowd. Who cares. Feel like PoM calling Cane a shit McCaw or Sexton yelling at the refs all the time is much worse on the sin scale.
