Re: **OFFICIAL** English Rugby Thread
There are some fairly big centres in the Prem, and I've never seen Eastmond have any issues defending against them. Ultimately we'll never know unless we try him out. It's a bit different at international level, where it's often less about missing tackles than preventing people getting over the gai...

Re: Welsh Regions gone..
What would happen to the likes of Worcester if they were guaranteed their place every year? They'd make Dragons look like the Miami Heat. You think Worcester would just give up if there was no chance of relegation? Bizarre logic - if they weren't forced to play low risk, high percentage rugby in an...

On a separate note, next year's AP looking to be extremely competitive, going by Wasps and Gloss's recruitment to date. Add to that the moneymen at LI and particularly Bristol if they come up, and it could be a corker.

Yeap. Imagine the Welsh will have to decide something, or it's suicide.
Europe presumably more likely to be cast aside for a year or so, in favour of mini tournaments and friendlies vs the saffas?

Perhaps Ford would have got a cameo if they'd won in Paris. As it is, giving them all a chance to get back on the horse.

I thought it had been established the regions legal advisors had told them they've got a 50/50 shot if it goes to court. Given their position, even if they lose, is the retention of the status quo (potentially but not inevitably disastrous), they hope to have a bargaining edge over the Unions for wh...

Assuming the same starting XV we'd have 3 players - 36, Burrell, Farrell - covering the centres. All 3 have played both 12 and 13 at some point so that's not an area of concern. May can cover fullback on the pitch with someone like Watson covering the back 3 from the bench. 36 can cover 10 but as i...

Struggle to see Ford getting a bench slot to be honest, as he can't cover fullback or midfield. And yet so many teams choose to take a dedicated fly half on the bench... how foolish of them... What? He got rounded by Huget, but as a performance it wasn't any worse than Twelvetrees et al. I know he's the bored albatross but just strikes me as an odd/ easy focus off the back of that team performance.

I thought it was alright to be honest. Showed great character to come back from a red hot French start, and only lost it in the end to a top quality breakaway try, without any of the backline left. Thought the front five went pretty well - their fitness is exemplary, and it's what brought England ba...

If you pick halfpenny and a 10, e.g. Sexton, do you get the points kicked by both? If you pick two hookers, do you get points from both for successful throw-ins? 12 players instead of 15 bugs me, as does the potential for gaming if the above questions are answered 'yes'. I'm playing nonetheless.......

Rugby Paper has Opeti Fonua on his way to Tigers as well. Wonder if that means we are losing Crane and/or Michael Noone too? Loamanu supposedly plays backrow, centre, wing and fullback. Isn't he just openly stating the existing speculation on the clubs. Remember somewhere in this thread reading the clubs felt they have a 50/50 shot if it goes to court, and less downside in forcing it there if needs be - and that's what this "bargaining strength" comes down to.

I love the HEC, but it’s currently trying to serve two different masters – it can either be European rugby’s elite competition, or a development competition. It shouldn’t do both, and more importantly trying to do both affects it ability to do either – I am yet to be convinced how the Italian teams,...
