Re: Breaking Live - Alleged ISIS attack in Sydney

After every attack where someone gets butchered in the street by Islamic terrorists we hear shitstirring unsubstantiated claims about hijabs being torn off or Muslim women being abused. Usually when you look more into it, it ends up being internet trolls that have said something offensive and is re...

Re: Breaking Live - Alleged ISIS attack in Sydney

Does Australia have a large Muslim population? I saw a figure of 500k/28mill last night. I doubt its precise, but it may not be entirely inaccurate. A substantial proportion of that figure live in the Sydney area, so its a larger proportion of the city population, than overall. Australia only has a...

Re: Breaking Live - Alleged ISIS attack in Sydney

Lets leave it there, until we know more, before calling anyone heroes, or suggesting their actions led to deaths. What harm do we do by speculating? Well, we don't have any harm. I just guess suggestions that someone who is now deceased was an idiot for something that may not have occurred grate on...

Re: Breaking Live - Alleged ISIS attack in Sydney

Fact remains that no-one here knows what happened, at all.
We had a very mentally unstable person holding a whole heap of people hostage.
Anything could have caused those deaths.

Lets leave it there, until we know more, before calling anyone heroes, or suggesting their actions led to deaths.

Re: Australia raises terror alert to highest level ever

Dunno why some people find it so hard to admit Abbott might actually have been right this time. Another dumb comment. We've been on a high alert for years. Under our previous level of readiness, which had been adopted since 9/11 and the Bali bombings, a terrorist attack was considered likely. And t...

Re: Breaking Live - Alleged ISIS attack in Sydney

Now that the dust is settling on this tragic incident, I'm starting to think about the short to medium term ramifications. I hope I'm wrong but I expect some push-back against Muslim-Australians. I don't think the push back will be as bad as some feared, especially given that it now seems the gunma...

Re: Australia raises terror alert to highest level ever

Yeah, nah. The 'one bloke in a coffee shop' remark was foolhardy on so many levels. It could quite conceivably only take one bloke in his house or even on a beach with a laptop, smart phone or watch. Yes. We can all see now that there was an issue. However, this attack was not seen by our security ...

It will be interesting to see what was occurring at the time. If the guy was kicking off then he did a very brave thing and saved loads of people although a shotgun isn't a particularly effective weapon to control a crowd. If he acted in a premeditated strike it was still brave but possibly foolhar...
