Re: All Blacks V Los Pumas. RWC 2023 Semi Final thread.
Two things that have immediately stood out from the last two games. 1. Red zone efficiency. I'd love to see a statistic of how many points, on average, the All Blacks have scored each time they have entered the opposition 22 against Ireland and Argentina. And the stat of how many times the All Black...

Re: All Blacks V Los Pumas. RWC 2023 Semi Final thread.
The NH journalists are absolutely livid at the result I simply can't get enough. Shite Richie McCaw for a captain, can't ruck, old middle row, not a vintage team, Ireland better at being the All Blacks, stadium atmosphere is flat, Ireland/France should've been in the semi-finals, referee should lear...

Re: All Blacks V Los Pumas. RWC 2023 Semi Final thread.
The way the All Blacks were trying to run up the score with the clock in the red was appalling sportsmanship. Kiwi teams routinely do this, and when I call them out the simpimg kiwi posters cry about points difference. No points difference in a semi final when you're up by 50 points. Just a bunch o...

Same. I get the feeling that if we pick Tele'a next week the saffas will be putting a lot of high balls to his wing Probably the case either way. I'm a consistent outlier in this respect , I think there's considerable daylight between what Tele'a offers this AB team and what Leicester brings. My im...

Well I think Gardner has put himself in good contention for the final. Clear, accurate and let the game flow. Dealt with things calmly and correctly. It'll probably be Mathieu Raynal so they can have at least one Frenchman on the field.... If England aren’t in it, Barnes will have the final. Accord...

Tele’a ran for the second most metres and beat 14 defenders with 2 clean breaks and an offload. Great result. Great defence when they were under the pump at times, which will probably annoy some ignorant forum members. Tele’a was great, fully vindicating his selection. Barrett yellow card was dumb. Mo’unga goal kicking unusually bad. Scrums were beautiful.

Re: NZ v Ireland RWC Quarter Final Thread..
Better tacklers and defensive reads obviously. But I don't have a solution as to what system they should use instead, or how they might tweak the current one. Nor is that is necessarily a perquisite or natural progression of my observations. They are after all just observations. Funny way of saying...

The response was to me mentioning the 8 missed tackles from the two midfielders. And the failure did not just result in a missed tackle, but also a try. So to reiterate, see bolded. Better tacklers and defensive reads obviously. But I don't have a solution as to what system they should use instead,...

No, not when it's not working, obviously. It's called failure to execute, skill deficit, or whatever is causing it not to work. Maybe it's just a shit plan given the cattle we have and we should be using something else? That doesn't preclude it being an excellent plan in different circumstances. Ba...

Yes, I accept that is a legitimate defensive strategy, especially in the backline. It is not when the opposition scores off it, is it? So is it or is it not a legitimate defensive tactic? Re: NZ v Ireland RWC Quarter Final Thread..
Still 8 tackles missed by the midfield, wherever they were defending, is not optimal. Ringrose gets dinged with “missed tackle” stats all the time because he stands up an attacker, who cuts back inside and gets tied up. The defender keeps his feet and the shape of the defensive line, and the tackle...

It's a close call and I'd prefer the player that is signed in 2024 to NZ rugby. It was never a close call. Tele’a is simply better suited to how the All Blacks want to play the game. Tele’a offers more as a whole. As we get closer to the end amd things tighten up I'm starting to prefer Fainga'anuku...

Nah you can't just blame foster everytime we lose and then put the wins down to the assistants. Foster is the coach. Anything his assistants do is because of him. Ted is just a curmudgeonly, sad, old man and engaging with him is pointless. He’d probably celebrate an All Black exit at the semi becau...

Re: All Blacks V Los Pumas. RWC 2023 Semi Final thread.
If Stuff is accurate (and they were last week), it’s just the three changes. I think Roigard would have been very handy off the bench and it’s a pity Fainga'anuku looks set to miss out but if he’s not starting, I get that. If that is correct, Christie is in, then I think it is simply a case of Fost...

Tele’a was always going to come back into the team so that’s no surprise. They’ve set their stall in Christie and if we make the final he’ll be in the team. Don’t mind the Whitelock and Retallick swap but Coles out and Taukei'aho in seems to be a straight tactical decision.

Reiko is world class. All blacks biggest weakness is cards and penalties. We are the best team left in the tournament now but discipline could cost us. 41 mins 54 seconds ball in play - Ireland vs All Blacks (from ThebRugbybPod). That’s how to beat SA. It would be a help. You can do your utmost to keep the ball in play.
