While South Canterbury have generally been in the upper half of the Heartland Championship, this unbeaten streak deserves full respect. Bear in mind that Nigel Walsh was with North Otago prior to this, so clearly the cattle (and them responding to him) is the difference.

I know that but when does the "caretaker" bit officially start? Basically immediately after an election when a new Govt is yet to be formed. There's a widespread misunderstanding that after Parliament is dissolved, 6 weeks or so out from an election, caretaker mode kicks in, but that's not correct.
