I think Scotland emptied the tank so much on defence that they just couldn't muster the attacking threats when they did get a sniff of territory. Big improvement just hanging in the match for 80 minutes, though. Take note, Wales! I don't recall them getting a sniff of territory in that second half.

And also as purely offensive players, they pretty much never need to anticipate anything. Every play is choreographed to the nth degree. Sportsmen are rarely the sharpest, but offensive NFL players probably the least of all. They are essentially robots sent out to deploy raw speed and muscle memory...

When points for tries are disproportionately valued above points for penalty kicks, you get more penalties and yellow cards. I’m guessing you don’t have any evidence for that conclusion.
