Re: 🇮🇪 vs 🇮🇹
On balance I'd prefer to see him, rather than Herring, getting game time. He was unreal last season and most players seem to bring their best form playing for Ireland these days, so would be good to see him getting a shot. He played himself into RWC contention last season, but looked like he wasn't...

You might be over egging it, it's only a 45 point game.
In all seriousness, Italy should be more dangerous in attack than France were.
I'd be happy with a bonus point win and anything over 20 ahead.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
The BBC are reporting that Ringrose will be fit to play, which rather makes the Stockdale debate moot. If Ringrose is fit, I would start him on the wing. Harsh on Nash but Ringrose is a proven world class test player. His try from the wing against France last year offered a glimpse of what he might...

Interesting stats based ratings from the France match, Lowe and Beirne the standouts, front row not so good and while we were all hugely impressed by McCarthy the stats don't have him as high. https://twitter.com/Oval_Insights/status/1754923986645828053?t=wjYOP3l5bZrZktxZIHNg1Q&s=19 https://pbs.twi...

2 red card offences for Willemse with 2 bans imposed and he will end up only missing 2 Six Nations games. https://media.sixnationsrugby.com/press-releases/independent-disciplinary-update-paul-willemse-decision/ Being available for later in the Championship is probably a bigger punishment to France.

Interesting story around former Ire u20 lock Cormac Daly (25). Some of you probably know this. Was with Leinster and Connacht’s for a bit but hadn’t made it as a pro. Played with Clontarf in the AIL for a few years. Decided to pack up his bag and went to Australia and ended up playing with Sydney c...

Re: Barry John RIP
Just saying, but if Barry John had not retired so early in his career, their would be little talk of Phil Bennett. Bennett was a very different sort of player, with Edwards inside him, Fenwick and Gravell (mostly), two beasts of men for the time, outside him, and a back three of JJ Williams, Gerald...

Also, I do wonder if they'll try Frawley at 12. I'm not sure McCloskey needs the gametime and with respect, he's not getting any younger. The age profile of our centres is nearly the worst of all the positions with Ringrose the youngest less than a year from his 30th birthday. I can't see all four ...

I'm not a fan of mass changes within the same units of the team. And we have 2 weeks till the Taffs then another two weeks till the Pig-dogs. Key continuity is at 10. Therefore I see no prospect of changing the player inside (#9) or the player outside (#12). I'd probably keep Doris at #8 to maintain...

Rumours that French, Greg jones, O’Connor, O’Sullivan and Shanahan are not getting their contract renewed. Ulsters squad is being de-leinsterised. Are their replacements going to be any better ? Because Ulster's problem isn't that their squad is full of Leinster "rejects", it's that those "rejects"...

Re: France vs Ireland Official 2024 6N Match Thread
Rightly or wrongly, all of French rugby's focus over the 4 years prior to the RWC had been on getting the XV de France to the final. It didn't happen and the coaches and players have still not got over it. Personally I think Galthié should have written off this 6N and brought in a boat load of youn...

Hailed throughout their careers as legends of the Irish game, and yet immediately after BODs retirement, Ireland began winning six nations for fun, and immediately after POC retired Ireland began routinely beating SA/NZ, so the question must be, now without Sexton, will Ireland finally reach a semi...

Half time review and Sonia McLoughlin thinks France were too aroused!!!
Chris Ashton dissolved in fits of laughter and Tommy Bowe tried to get her to clarify what she meant (they got too fired up by the Anthem!)

Gibson-Park needs to distribute faster - not after 3 or 4 steps. France are in the receivers face before he lets go We look like we're "thinking" at each ruck rather than just playing. The last thing we want is a loose game Lowe's kick earlier was awful - well infield and a long way from the chase....

looking at AIl highlights, Aaron Sexton is way too good for that level. 3 tries and created another one in two game for Hinch. To good or too fast? Saw him years ago playing for the Ravens in the B&I Cup against a Welsh side. We were winning 3-0 in the final minute and turned them over about 5m fro...
