Re: RWC 2023 - France thread
Another highly unlikely permutation but I can't get my head round the analysis from the official RWC site in relation to Samoa in Pool D: If neither [Argentina nor Japan] get a bonus point in the draw, Samoa must beat England by 29 points and get a try-bonus point to have the best points difference ...

Re: RWC Final Pool Matches NZ v Uruguay,
To add some spice. Uruguay must beat New Zealand with a try-bonus point, and by at least 80 points, and will need France to defeat Italy in order to qualify for the quarter-finals. Uruguay must beat New Zealand with a try-bonus point, prevent the All Blacks from taking any bonus point and hope Ital...

Re: World Rugby have got themselves in a bind here
So let's get hypothetical for a second. Ireland are behind 40-25 with a minute to go. Scotland have the ball. Ireland are doomed to crash out. So Ireland's only choice is to let Scotland score so Scotland win the pool. As far as I'm concerned, this is not match fixing. They'd be removed from the to...

Re: World Rugby have got themselves in a bind here
The only thing I'm not 100% on there is 5-1 with us losing by 5 or 20. That would still come down to the match itself, I think, so is unknown. What does his *read as? Can't see on my phone. If Scotland win by 20 clear points they also need to have 3 clear tries over Ireland for both Scotland and Ir...

Only if Ireland end top of the PD pile. If SA get 5 against Tonga and Ireland and Scotland end on 14 pts each then I actually think it may be head to head first so Scotland will qualify. If they all end up on 14 then it's point difference first, and then head to head for the second time I believe. ...

Re: RWC R4 New Zealand vs Italy Lyon 30 September 2023
Italy still a chance, just have to beat France by about 190 odd points and they'll push us out. Not really - If that happens then France are out not NZ. In fact even if italy only win by 1 point -as long as france dont score 4 tries- then Italy are through , France are out. That's obviously not hap...

Re: British referees shouldn't be allowed to ref British teams
The problem the game faces is that the pool of top level officials is very shallow. They don't even come from the whole of Tier 1 - 95% of RWC games in the pro era have had refs from just 7 nations - Australia, England, France, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Wales. Basically the old Five Nation...

If Namibia weren't facing a 5-day turnaround into the game that is really the crucial one for them (v Uruguay) they might have gone full strength v France. They'd still have lost but unlikely to have been as bad as it was.

So we have had a few games with him in charge, and I have to say that the man has no feel for the game at all. His officiating against Fiji has raised eyebrows. A victory for Wales next weekend makes qualification for the knockouts very straightforward from a Fijian perspective (2 wins would do). If they're feeling bold though, cheering for an Australia victory with no BPs for Wales would offer Fiji a route to topping their pool (2 BP wins required) and a q...

Yeah I think Pinto same, an involuntary action when off balance mid air. Hopefully red card will be overturned Law 9.11 is where any appeal will fall down. Taking Wales.Fiji etc or anyone out of it, the people I find I struggle to understand or take a lot of notice of, are people who only think their team lost because of either refs blunder, coaches, players mistakes, and can't say hey the other team just were better, and that's what happens in sport!...
