Is there any word on what is happening as far as a permanent rugby ground is concerned? Haven't heard anything about it for a while.

Re: Crusaders vs England - June 17
Why don't they just forget about midweek games........FFS. It wasn't a provincial game, you blithering idiot. Explain what's so f**king "traditional" about a touring side playing a Supe XV franchise. FFS Meh, the game has moved on from 'provincial' rugby being a major thing. The Crusaders playing a...

Re: Crusaders vs England - June 17
Didn't see this match but I presume it was pretty similar to the Blues game last season against France. Maybe they should bring back NI/SI teams for the June midweek match. Alternate between the NI and SI playing the visitor each year, hold the matches in regional centres - Nelson, Timaru, Rotorua e...

Re: Official New Zealand v England 2nd Test Match Thread
Good game, good win from NZ. First half of the second half was the difference. The YC was a little dubious.
It is a shame that next week's game will be a dead rubber.
On another note, Grant Nisbett is such a painful fanboy. Needs to be banned from commentating international rugby fixtures...

Re: NZ Fans - Guardians of the Game
I didn't come across anything of the sort in the numerous games I went to during the world cup, I'd say as a whole they're pretty isolated events, that doesn't however disguise that we are bad drinkers and very aggressive as a whole. It's hard to comment not living there but it seems to be that in ...

They should just play through and delay the start of the SR season by three or four weeks. Schedule a bye for each team during the test window so that international players miss no more than two games. Easy

Re: Australia's four footy codes compared
How accurate are the participation figures? If correct then there are 50% more rugby players in NZ than league players in Australia, in which case I'm surprised the recruitment of 1st XV players by NRL teams hasn't been even more aggressive.

Re: Is it time to re-consider Super Rugby bonus points?
I don't like the idea of a team winning fewer games than another yet ending up in a higher position on the table. I would keep BPs, but only as the main form of tie-breaker. 4 ladder points for a win, 2 for a draw, none for a loss. BPs to be kept in a separate column in the same way as tries scored...

Re: Kieran Read - Sabbatical by stealth?
I've just heard that Read will miss this week's game against the Highlanders because of man-flu. By my reckoning this will be the 8th game he will miss out of a possible 12 this season. Re: Kirwan raises transfer fees option to stem player drain
The only way this will ever work is if the Blues find a way of locking promising players into long-term contracts early in their careers. Considering they aren't even allowed to employ their own players or head coach I doubt that will ever happen. Sort of highlights how clumsy rugby's contracting sy...

Strange that - the local derbies carry far more interest here at home - the reason being there are 2 comps going at once; the conference and overall table and both very important. Better solution: SA abandon their 'franchise' system and establish a new competition with 7 SA teams + 1 Argentine team. Double round robin with playoffs. The Currie Cup can be awarded separately to the SA team with the best record against other SA teams (i.e. a competition within a competition). Th...
