Re: United Rugby Championship 2021/22 Thread

So Scarlets have a player/staff budget of €12.1 million as per above so if that is average for the 4 regions that would be €48.4 million give or take more than the Irish provinces  196 staff what the hell are they all doing. Despite losing 21 staff their staff budget only went down £112k aro...

Re: United Rugby Championship 2021/22 Thread

Oh dear: Wages and salaries £9,275,380 I can only assume that staff (and salary) figure has to include both Scarletts and Llanelli RFC? Even still it seems very large. Yes. Scarlets, Llanelli RFC players and probably Llandovery players too. Plus admin, catering, shop assistants, ticket salespeople,...

Re: United Rugby Championship 2021/22 Thread

There are no dual contracts. I'm unsure why anyone would look at turnover / income to compare what companies spend money on. Totally unrelated. Re: United Rugby Championship 2021/22 Thread

I have already answered this. Wales has around 100 more rugby clubs than Ireland. It's too many clubs. Too many mouths to feed. That's more £ that needs to b e invested in community rugby and more salaries of development officers, referees and whatever else goes with it. That's where the money goes...

The budgets of the big French teams seem to be fairly available - most of them dwarf the spending of teams in other parts of Europe (in as far as we can tell).
What on earth are you talking about? The salary cap in France is €11.5 m minus French squad player credits.

Saracens, as with all English clubs have had to cut back on spending. The salary cap in England is now £7m. Leinster have a player payroll of around £11m . Only the French clubs can match that. I've seen that figure bandied around several times and it's absolute horseshit. Plus Sarries have their t...

Their turnover at WRU level is higher. How Welsh rugby chooses to spend that is up to them. You're dead right about this bit though. And what the WRU choose to spend their money on isn't the 4 Welsh regions. There are too many rugby clubs in Wales that all want handouts and funding. There are over ...

You'll have to translate that. Can you not see how the figure is different? It goes into a pot. Irish 4 receive 40m+ on players and coaches alone. Welsh teams receive £32m that they have to use on everything. The Scarlets have 196 members of staff to pay salaries to (including tea ladies). They gen...
