Re: The Training Thread

One of the reason Beers cause a later reaction for Carb comfort (day after drinking especially) is that the Alchohol causes a very confused signal to the insulin receptors and insulin production in the body creating "hunger". I find a beer session much harder to get back under controlled diet from t...

Re: Arctic sea ice coverage back to 'normal' levels

Antarctic ice coverage increasing is not a sign of impending doom or a portent of catastrophic occurrences round the corner That's right. For reasons we've discussed many times before, winter Antaractic sea ice extent isn't especially important in the world's energy balance. But summer Arctic sea i...

Re: Arctic sea ice coverage back to 'normal' levels

Bimboman, you are completely misunderstanding what I am referring to as "history in the making". The historic happening I am referring to is the progressive Arctic sea ice loss such that the Arctic basin is likely become ice free, or nearly so, within the next few years. The photo from the ice brea...

Re: Arctic sea ice coverage back to 'normal' levels

Bimboman, as you can see, the ice is all broken up. That is a region where a storm passed through about a week ago, so the storm may well have broken the ice up. Once the ice has broken up it can melt much more quickly, presuming there is enough heat around, as it has more surface area exposed to t...
