Re: Currie Cup 2023
Kade was brilliant as were a number of the players. Jake is so desperate for a win against WP/Stormers and playing his URC team has backfired on him. Was a great game and deserved a bigger crowd. We are building so much depth in Cape Town and our style of rugby brings this old toppie a lot of happin...

Re: Varsity Cup 2023
Maties have won two games with an 80+minute penalty. I am loving this years varsity cup. Any of the teams who pitch up with the right attitude can beat another team. So good to see Tukkies at the bottom and they face Maties away next - could end up being o and 5!

Re: Varsity Cup 2023
We have a very good Ikeys squad this year and on paper they should be doing a lot better on the field. Great against Tukkies, average against Maties and very poor against UJ. It is a relegation year and it is going to put a lot of pressure on the teams. The teams are very evenly matched and any team...

Re: URC Welsh tour to South Africa Matches threads
The Sharks were shocking. There seems to be a little bit of arrogance in the players believing the hype that they are the richest/best paid SA union and you just need to turn up to win. Something is not right, on paper that is a pretty decent team. They need a bollocking and some tough training sess...

I believe not one of the 15 players who started in the final last year will start this Friday for the Stormers. Kade Wolhuter at flyhalf and old flyhalf Jean-Luc Du Plessis (back from Japan) on the bench. We are really testing our depth. Interested to see the team announcement, it is pretty late.

Re: Rassie Erasmus and Springbok fans in general are a pack of whiney sore losers
Being a Saffer and watching the game with a few Saffers and some Scotsman, no one complained about the refereeing, Our feeling was the Boks had played fairly well and that the game could have gone either way. I think all the results this past week-end bode well for the World Cup as a number of teams...

Re: United Rugby Championship 2022/23
Stormers are lucky to have Fourie and Xaba. Best 6s by a country mile. Xaba is a future Springbok. Kolisi can only wish. Agreed. The honest talk from the camp is that Nama has been frustrated in recent months for not getting enough game time and is really hungry to play for the Boks, so need to pla...

Re: United Rugby Championship 2022/23
Simelane and Sadie massive losses for the Lions. SImelane is suited to the Lions style of rugby and I am not sure he will fit into the Bulls pattern, He would have been better off signing for the Stormers.
I will be shouting for the Lions but I think the Bulls will grind out a comfortable win.

Re: Do the Boks and All Blacks miss Super Rugby more than we thought?
It's not looking good for the Boks. We were way to long in that nr 1 ranking spot. We produce our best when we have the underdogs tag. Luckily Wales brought us back to ground. Our coaches need to tweak the boredom gameplan otherwise we'll end up missing the quater finals. Oom, I agree. I think we h...

Re: Congrats Stormers! First ever URC Champions
So happy with the win and the passion the team and coaching staff showed. Hopefully a turning point for WP rugby. A mate of mine put down R1000 each on the Stormers and Bulls to win many months ago, when a semi-final was even unlikely. His Stormers odds at the time 23 to 1, so he he is chuffed, part...

I.M.H.O the rain will be to the Bulls advantage. They have the slightly better forward pack and we have the slightly better backs and our loosies are more geared to open rugby. From the forecast heavy rain in the morning and drizzle the rest of the day. Hopefully the authorities have plans to mop up...

Oom, I watched a bit of Rondebosch against Stellenberg up to 2nd side then headed home to watch on streaming. I think the Northern schools were better prepared this year compared to previous. Paarl Gym are going to run up some big scores against WP opposition looking at that team. A generational team.

Re: Saffers - varsity cup
Oom, yesterday the Ikeys under 20 also beat Maties 22 - 0. I see Maties have lost all three Young Guns games. I am assuming the recruitment by Tukkies/Pukke and the unions (less funding at Maties) has had an impact. Also I would assume a number of players are in the WP under 20 competition.

Was at the Ikeys vs Maties game. It had some vibe and there was a lot of good banter between the fans of the two teams. Hartzenberg made the SA under 18 team at school and could go all the way if injury free. I seem to think he is only 19 years old this year. On paper the Maties should have won comf...

Re: Saffers - varsity cup
The Ikeys vs Madibaz game was exciting but an awful game of rugby. Ikeys rested a number of key players and made positional switches of wings playing centre and flank to lock etc. It did affect the cohesion but Madibaz were also very gutsy. The Ikeys dont have the depth of some of the other sides. T...

Re: Saffers - varsity cup
The Wits win was massive this past week in the context of relegation, it puts them one win ahead of UWC and UJ on the combined 21/22 log. Madibaz will never make up the points to stay up, but any one of UJ/UWC/WITS/AXIAS could go down. My thoughts are that Wits and Shimlas have sides that will win a...

Went to the Ikey vs UWC match. Was great to watch live sports again and was a great vibe, even without beer. Very physical match with some great running rugby. Ikeys had a little luck getting that win (intercept and lucky bounce tries, both 7 point tries) but they did play very well in the second half.
