Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
All fair points. One thing I will always remember is being drilled about mental toughness. And no, I cannot claim to have achieved it. That is what has set the All Blacks apart down the decades IMO. We accept making mistakes and performing to 75%. They never do. Until we change that we will always ...

BM, get shot of your bike, get down to alpine at inners or glentress and pick up an ex-hire off roader, you live in the best part of the uk, europe or arguably the world for options in going off road, with the trails at glentress and the downhill at inners, plus ready access to the natural stuff in ...

Re: The official cycling thread
My last photo was a bit deceptive, I'll admit. It faces away from the trail, while the trail was hard-packed gravel. There are no really 'rough' trails close by - I need to take the hard-packed probably 8kms into the park to get to them. Yeah, mine was off the trail too for optimum 'boreal forest' ...

For a weekend warrior its often far more confidence inspiring to be able to move your foot off or back onto a flat pedal. A lot of MTB coaches have a preference for teaching people on flats to give them proper technique. I can't remember the last time I saw anyone other than a fat old granny or kid...

would the runner with the highest terminal speed, be in the 100m, the 200m or a long jumper
the 100m winner is always referred to as the 'fastest man' in the world, rather than the 'quickest over 100m', they don't have to be both the same do they

For MTBing, you shouldn't be grabbing the front brake in the corner. Ideally you should scrub enough speed with both brakes on the approach to a turn then roll round it. Shift your bodyweight back to avoid going over the bars when braking hard. That's the ideal, anyway - I find I misjudge braking a...
