Re: All Blacks 2023

I've said loads of times on this forum that Sam Whitelock is my favourite player of all time. And I've had the luxury of supporting plenty of superstar players at SR and test level. What pips McCaw and Carter for me is his consistency at all levels.Carter in particular and McCaw to a lesser extent ...

Re: NZ v Ireland RWC Quarter Final Thread..

Was there an explanation as to why jordie took over the kicking after Mounga started goal kicking? Fozzie asked the waterboy to ask Cane to ask Richie to hand the tee to Jordie because he wants to create competition. Which obviously led to Richie getting so mad he took the line on during the next l...

Just dropped in to say that first 40 would have to be one of the best halves of rugby I have ever seen, incredible stuff from both sides.

Congrats Boks, commiserations France.

Re: Did Ireland Choke their QF match again?

Surely you have to be in a position where victory is almost certain and then with the finish line in sight, nerves or silly mistakes make it all slip away to be a choke?

I don’t think Ireland were ever in that position, so no, not a choke for me.

Re: NZ v Ireland RWC Quarter Final Thread..

If Foster picks the right squad and we get our shit together, I think we'll be too good for them, simple as that. All the pressure is on them, the favoritism, the expectation, their undefeated run, the massive ground support, it's all on the line in this game. They probably unconsciously think they ...

Re: RWC R4 New Zealand vs Italy Lyon 30 September 2023

They were quite a way off for Australia and Wales. That's not what I mean by fair. If you had Australia and Wales play again this weekend, you wouldn't make them a 34 point favorite just because Wales won by 34 last time. Fair is the median outcome if you played the game many times in parallel univ...

Re: All Blacks Vs Namibia RWC Match Thread

Cane plays a tighter style of game that aligns well with test rugby. He makes crunching tackles, cleans and secures ball well. Papali'i is playing too loose for my linking at this point in time. Of course my opinion upsets you because you're a Blues fan, and adore all their players. So what you are...

Re: All Blacks 2023

There's no one in the squad to execute that game plan while Frizell is injured. Scott Barrett could cover surely? He likes running the blindside? I can't believe it's all reliant on one player? His running game isn't as effective as Frizells. He's the next best guy but they are managing Retallicks ...

Re: All Blacks 2023

I'm just gutted about that red card. But moving on, I believe two things became clear tonight. Roigard and LF have to be in our best 23. Roigard did so much right tonight, his feet, speed and strength holds defences up for that split second when he looks to dab or beat a player and then he creates ...

Just looked at stuff ratings and read this: 22. Richie Mo’unga: Played the final quarter and showed nice vision to kick for Clarke try, but was otherwise unusually shaky, with a couple of messy fumbles. 4 Wtf - what are they on about? I didn’t see any of that… He wasn’t great, made a nice tackle an...

Re: All Blacks Vs Namibia RWC Match Thread

To many unforced errors in that even given the conditions. Penalised practically every time Namibia had the ball. A bunch of messy tries but not very good. I think when you put 70 points on a team, something has gone right, complaining that it wasn’t good enough seems a bit churlish. It wasn’t perf...

I think Jacobson earned his spot through a very good Soup season and deserves his spot but apart from being on the end of an outrageous Barrett backhand flick pass I am struggling to think of any impact at all from him. Listening to the Aotearoa Rugby Pod and they're pointing out just how many players we had playing out of position.
