Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Also, we’ve a huge issue at Loose Head. Porter is a liability in the scrum and we don’t seem to have anyone coming through. Furlong also a liability in the scrum. This loss hopefully will bring everybody back down to reality that we are an average team when our attack is shut down, which all teams ...

Re: **OFFICIAL** English Rugby Thread
The thing I don't get, is the overly laudatory stuff about his use (reliance on) data. Data is obviously massively important, but Borthwick's 'vision' sees data being used to minimise risk, rather than to maximise opportunity, and that is a fundamental problem if you don't have players who are bette...

Re: U20 6 Nations 2024
England really need to move away from relying on power at this level. The pay-off is at senior level if you get skills and systems right at U20s. I agree, but on top of that the thing I find particularly odd is that England also weren't that much more powerful than Ireland. They definitely had more...

Re: U20 6 Nations 2024
Fantastic try. Great play all round, and wonderful passing from the 9.
Though slightly worried we may come back for a clearout a while back after the lineout.

England LH boring in massively for the pen - had his man on toast but still drove inwards. Then double movement for the try - tackled and then launched again.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Just to refresh our memories, here’s Radge’s contribution to that Scotland game. https://youtu.be/s6ytZ77KaFU?si=EkgEQh_fnyDE9H5c I mean, we could argue till the cows come home about what Sexton did or didn’t do against the ABs, particularly in the end-game, but none of his contributions actively g...

Re: The Official and ONLY England v Ireland Match Thread
When Woodward contrived to deliver the worst Lions performance in living memory by selecting the dads army four years later, he managed to combine poor selection (of the squad) with atrocious tactics and in-camp vibes. The selection he should have been able to get away with - they were still good e...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Depth. Addison likely going back to England. But it’s only a rumour. Apparently he can play centre too, which I hadn't realised, so on depth grounds some sense - but he'd need to be cheap as chips for it to make any kind of sense. I imagine he will be pretty cheap, would never have been on a high w...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Haley is head and shoulders the best alternative FB to Keenan we have. It's not even close. I think he deserves a shot. Given how well Nash has done, they'd definitely put Hansen at 15 if he was fit and Keenan was out. But Haley should be pushing a fit JOB for the next cab off the rank. They talked...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Yeah, thought he was fairly conspicuously off the pace tbh but this season has been fairly weird timed for him, joining Munster in November etc. Fair comment. No preseason, or a messed about one, can't be helpful for a big unit. My concern was he didn't look that big. Looked a bit skinny for a prop...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
Why can't we find even average international level ball carrying forwards, like they trickle through one a decade if we are lucky. It's ridiculous and I don't understand it, it's been massively holding us back for forty years. A really interesting thing is you have produced loads of backs in the la...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
There's a big difference between having the athletic capability to be a good 15 in league/european rugby, and the same at same time not being up to it in test rugby. Alex Goode is the perfect example. An absolutely brilliant club player in a strong Saracens team. But just not at all up to it at inte...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
My entire post was focused on Crowley and not Frawley. I said that irelands attacking shape was different to what we’re used to seeing due to the role Frawley played - this was a supporting point - I didn’t comment good or bad re Frawley in this regard beyond noting he’s not that type of 15 (yet). ...
