Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
I've been mightily impressed with Thyer, as you say he's made an impression every time he's gotten on - a good impression at that, strong in the scrummage and good around the park. With melon in the twilight of his career and Gill rejoining next year Brad could become a top player, coming along unde...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
Cracking win for the Blues this afternoon. We played some pretty dumb rugby at times in the first half but our scrum was dominant, last 20 mins we played some fantastic rugby. Danny Wilson is definitely turning this bunch of players around.

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
I think Wilson is the right man for us at the moment. He turned the scarlets pack around, did some good work with the u20's, ok brizzle haven't managed promotion with him there, but then they've also got andy robinson and holley with their fingers in that particular pie. If he can get our pack playi...

WTF has Gavin Evans got to do in order to be dropped from this team? He's been gash since he joined but has gradually wormed his way into the starting line up and now appears undrop-able. I have no idea how.

Looks as though he's almost definately, quite possibly maybe on his way to us in the summer.

Re: Hammett gooooooonnnnnne
I was going to start a thread on this so thank you! What is he like as a coach - do his teams play open attcking rugby, or big packs smashing people with a more physical approach? Big on discipline? Building teams out of players rather than packing a team full of super stars? Does he inspire and get...

Re: Welsh regions to get sponsorship/backhander from BT spor
First Scotland now Wales. At least BT Sport are very open with their bribery. We like to call them 'incentives'. The re-naming of the Arms Park will be a ground-breaking move which will be a first for Welsh rugby. Wasn't the Millennium Stadium the BT Cellnet millennium stadium at one point in the d...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
The backrow are victims of their own versatility, we'll never achieve any level on continuity there until 'best positions' are identified. I just don't believe that Pretorius and Copeland are ever going to be better than decent squad players. If you look back a couple of years the blues had Molitik...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
Unfortunately it's still the pack that worries me for us next season more than anything, jenkins and rees will add some much needed experience to the front row - but andrews is still a worry, he still looks a stone or two too light at the moment. I really hope he starts to emerge from having his ars...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
Hope to see the Blues giving some game time to the younger backs this season, particuarly in the centre, Cory Allen a natural 12 and Owain Williams a natural 13, they've got to be given time together on the field. Daf Hewitt is a good, honest, reliable club player, gavin evans has hands like feet an...

On the subject of tightheads, does anyone know how Broster is getting on in Biaritz? Is he playing regular games for them or just warming the bench? He must have something about him if he's playing.

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
Jamie Roberts is going to be offered a central contract. Much as it pains me to say it, he needs to pull his finger out of his arse and start getting involved in games if he's going to be earning a dual contract. I actually thought he wasn't on the field for most of the second half yesterday! When ...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
Much as it pains me to say it no.2, I feel Falatau needs to move away from the Dragons to push his game on to the next level, with the Ospreys crying out for a quality no.8 it would be his natural move.

So, to carry on the discussion above, what the fudge happened to Connacht? The somehow managed to lose to what was probably the worst team any Welsh region has ever put out since the inception of regional rugby about a decade ago. :? 1) Your memory is shit. 2) I didnt see it but know the game was p...

I couldn't get to the Arms Park on Saturday to see the mighty Bloos play, anyone know how our new tighthead Borrust (sp) went? Really hope he can give a semblance of a platform up front this season.

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread
All much as expected really. The tighthead prop situation is very worrying though. What does everyone else think, would you rather go with talented but undeniably makeshift tightheads in Gethin, James and Rhodri Jones or have a specialist of dubious quality? As the choices are Andrews, Mitchell...o...

Rumour going around that Matthew Rees has been given permission to talk to Cardiff Blues and 'un-named' French clubs, I don't know whether this is good for the Scarlets or not? we've got Ken Owens, Emyr Phillips and Kirby Myhill down here but Rees is still top-notch. :? I would've prefered Owens to...

Well as you say no.1 has happened, I've not heard anything about no.2, no.3 is a rumour I've heard and surely would fit best with both the blues & wru. I would love to see that happen. You must be chuffed GG  I'm already looking forward to the Scarlets match @ CAP next season. Its always nice when something approximating sanity breaks out in welsh rugby. The move to the CCS damaged Cardiff rugby badly but this news has put some light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully t...
