Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread

They are so bad. There's enough decent players to be better than they are. Grim stuff.

The only positive is that they'll have the wind second half and it does seem to be pretty strong. By that time they might be out of the game though.

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread

Last couple of years he couldn't get a run because of concussions. To say he couldn't get ahead of Dan Jones is pretty unfair and makes out it was a straight shoot out rather than one bloke perpetually on the comeback trail. For Wales he never got much of a run. 11 of his 21 matches were off the ben...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread

Just caught some Super Rugby Highlights. Patchell is looking rather handy for the Highlanders. Didn’t see the whole game but the highlight reel included a try, another zipping pass to set up a try, a pass out the back door in a tackle to create a try and a lovely kick through for a try. Obviously i...

Johnny Mcnicholl back to NZ with immediate effect. Blow for Scarlets that - he looked outstanding in a terrible performance last time out. Could have done with his quality.

A player I really enjoyed watching, sorry to see him go.

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread

The halfbacks are not the problem. The gameplan/forward power is the problem. Tomos is a buzzing, instinctive player. Sam Costelow and Ioan Lloyd both have an eye to run...Lloyd particularly. Our ruck ball is slow and our attacking patterns bereft of the sharpness and shape that makes defenders make...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread

I think that must be the A team backline. The Welsh team Cardey got capped in had the likes of Howley, Bateman...so lights years better. Still, the drop off to the A team is incredible.

However I'd still say we've put out worse backlines.

Dyer is going well, and Adams seems undroppable despite playing like dogshit. Can he play 15? Adams just needs to go back to Cardiff and get a run of games. More than anything he just needs to get the ball in his hands. Class player - just going through a bit of a dip. Mason Grady for France. A Dye...

Adams is the 4th best wing at Cardiff. God knows why we haven't fudged him off somewhere
He's playing badly right now, but he'll come good.

Cuthbert is 33 and hasn't managed a run of more than a few games in years...plus Mason Grady is the new, shiny lump on the wing. I think we're safe.

But good for the Ospreys. They've got plenty of smaller wings in Giles, Protheroe, Morgan...so something a bit different if he can stay fit.

Those lads were big but not exceptionally explosive with the exception of North. I'd also suggest that they were the exception that proves the rule...the drop off in physicality from those lads to the next in line during that period was practically vertiginous. True. Re: Jeff's All New And Euthymic Wales Ratings v Ireland

Dee deserves more than a 5. Flawless in the lineout, tackle stats were ok (11), carried 11 times for 20 metres - with a lot of those in our best period of the match. He did get turned over after that 20 phase stretch on 60 minutes or so but I'd argue that was as much about his support as the carry. ...

For me, the Ospreys at least seem to give a shit about hard work, defence and set piece (which is good, because they don't have much of a attack). Gareth Williams sacked as defence coach for the Scarlets. Their defence has been about on par with our defence at the dragons and we have the excuse that we don't have a defence coach.

Had to happen. Hard to see any area of their game that is working well but defence has been abysmal.
