sorry. didn't mean any offence. fair comment. bad taste. well not bad taste, but rude.

I don't think it's "creepy" as such. A bit before my time, but didn't people speculate about Lady Di when she married Charles ?

It was a ridiculous comment, you're right and I apologise.

Whatever about where she is from, we can all say with certainty that she won't be going anywhere near any one of this motley crue of sadsack PR posters anytime soon.

In my case, she doesn't know what she's missing, that's all I have to say about that.

More power to the girl. Talent delivered on, so young, is remarkable. Hats off.

Makes a change from "has the win sunk in yet ?" etc. snore.

Throw her off her stride a bit. Will be good preparation for her next match.

Btw (and I'm not doing that joke any more), quality clip here of Sweet Caroline at the end of the match:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDyC-TwQ3CA (edit: better version of the clip)

And also all joking aside, it really is magical to see someone so charming and so unlike a typical hardened sports professional, getting such success.

I think she gonna win a lot more majors too

Yeah, tbf it is a bit of a ropey conversation. But yes Boris may have been (as well).

Nadal ? Doubt it !!

Remember Boris's breakout year well. Maybe my first memory of pro tennis.

Come to think of it, didn't Boris come out of nowhere too ?

Becker turned professional in 1984, under the guidance of Romanian-born coach Günther Bosch and Romanian manager Ion Ţiriac, and won his first professional doubles title that year in Munich. As a teenager, Becker won the Tennis World Young Masters at the NEC in Birmingham in 1985, before taking his first top-level singles title in June that year at Queen's Club. Two weeks later, on 7 July, he became the first unseeded player and the first German to win the Wimbledon singles title, defeating Kevin Curren in four sets. Becker was at that time ranked 20th in ATP ranking,[8] and was unseeded, as at that time Wimbledon did not seed players beyond the top 16. He was the youngest ever male Grand Slam singles champion at 17 years, 227 days (a record later broken by Michael Chang in 1989, who won the French Open when he was 17 years, 110 days).
Surprised Becker was ATP #20. Hardly anyone had heard of him, at least in my 10 year old clueless mind they hadn't anyway. Then again, I was convinced that Chris Waddle was actually Glenn Hoddle's son and they'd spelled his name wrong, so who knows.

Chang would be in the list I'd guess too btw

I'm with Jonathan Liew, we've celebrated, now I just want her to be left alone. It must be completely overwhelming and distorting to have to deal with the sustained level of hype and attention coming her way. The pressure she'll feel the next time she steps onto a Centre Court is being ramped up right now!

For this was her Emma — her son Ian's adored daughter who visited her at least twice a year, staying in her third-floor flat in drab, post-Communist Bucharest, in an area known as Sector 2.

Bromley is a large town and area in south east London, England, within the London Borough of Bromley. It is 9.3 miles (15.0 km) south-east of Charing Cross, and had a population of 87,889 as of 2011.[2]...As part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Bromley significantly increased in population and was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1903 and became part of the London Borough of Bromley, in 1965.[4] Bromley today forms a major retail and commercial centre.[5] It is identified in the London Plan as one of the 13 metropolitan centres of Greater London.[4]
Strange as I've always thought of it as being in Kent too.

Pretty sure you already said that on page 3.

So since that comment I guess you're alluding to the argument about Raducanu's nationality ? Which is the same argument you had on your regular site.

By the way, the OP is a light hearted joke about people saying Raducanu was hot on the tennis thread. About half of those that did, also post regularly on your site. It was just passed off on here though as the bit of an innocent misjudgement which it was, rather than getting the pitchforks and the witch burning kits out.

i barely post on npr either and i'm pretty sure i have never been involved in that argument. but you appear to know more about that site than i do

your OP was, at best, creepy.
