Ref was at sixers and sevens... shouldn't have awarded the last try... and kicker was set.

Well done Canterbury!
Implying what?
Kicker was still. Meaning if he moved, Canterbury could charge. Kicker stept to the side and Canterbury charged. Ref saw it as a fair charge.
Interesting that if ref saw it as a fair charge, why did he stop them charging?

What a shame Perofeta has been wasted at fullback at the Blues and at Taranaki.

Got it in one. He was calling out when the kicker was approaching the ball - way to interfere.

Yehaa the Naki!!! See in a agme of rugby you just get stuck in and create havoc at breakdown and you go along way to getting result ! Very happy with that! great to see a Slater and Crowly in Naki colours, just needed a Barrett to complete the set!! ;)

Well done Naki. Great defence and keener, well drilled forward pack did the job.

Wellington, as per usual, didn't wake most of their forwards up this morning and that continued into this afternoon. They were bullied.

There is nothing in the laws that say once the kicker is still, the next move, in any direction as you imply, is deemed an approach on the ball. The law say the team may charge when the kicker begins the approach[/b*] to kick.

* move towards; advance; come near, etc.

I'll say up front that I think the ref probably got it wrong (although it probably evens out because it should have been accidental offside in the first place).

Having said that the wording of "approach" is vague enough that I can see how an error like that would come about.

Yeah, it is vague-ish, but international refs have previously ruled that it means advance, more forward, move towards. I'd expect ref training to clarify that sort of thing, but given I am not a ref. I don't really know.

That was a bloody enjoyable game to watch. There something fun about the games between the Bay teams! Biggest bugger is the Naki got a shield challenge if BOP won, now Tasman get first crack!!

No, Hawke's Bay keep it as holders if it's a draw.

It was embarrassing to hear professional commentators have no clue about what was happening.

How long have you lived in NZ? Long enough to know the rules of the naming of The Bay mr jambanja of Of Plenty.

Hilarious you make a quip about the ref when he ruled out Cridge’s try yet awarded the one to your Fresh off the Boat winger who ran round behind two of his own players.

Have to say again. NPC rugby is a great f***en watch. I love it, does me anyday of the week. I enjoyed the Nelson /Christ college match too, though I had to record that was at college rugby myself while in on tv.
Have to say I was almost rugbyed out on Sat, got out of bed watched Sarascens/Bristol Bears game live over brekky, then went to a couple of college games that were on around here, then a couple of NPC games, followed by 2 tests I was a little jaded by midnight. So having a break before Shield game was good!

Hey, you may get away with not doing traditional rugby rules in your home country, but don’t bring that here, bow down and call the Magpies by their rightful title of The Bay.

Hes talented for sure but jesus he makes waaaaaay to many errors for a 10. He doesnt have the temparament, thats why every coach ends up giving up on him and moving him to 15.

Implying what?
Kicker was still. Meaning if he moved, Canterbury could charge. Kicker stept to the side and Canterbury charged. Ref saw it as a fair charge.

I'm only commenting on the interpretation, not the call.

Yeah, it is vague-ish, but international refs have previously ruled that it means advance, more forward, move towards. I'd expect ref training to clarify that sort of thing, but given I am not a ref. I don't really know.
