That's a very good description of why we are where we are.
Tony Connolly is by far the best English language journalist reporting on the EU and very rarely, if ever, gets it wrong due to the strength of his sources.
Unless Boris blinks, trade war it is, and we, Ireland, will be enforcing a hard border across our island, the cause of which, British perfidy, will not be forgotten.
The EU breaking of the precious GFA won’t be forgiven either.
You do realise that about half the adult population of NI hold Irish passports, and are therefore EU citizens ?
As much as I realise that it’s not part of Ireland and its unique status is to protect both communities there. There should be no oversight of British law from the ECJ.
Shame nobody told David Frost, Boris Johnson, or both Houses of Parliament before they negotiated and signed a treaty that gave precisely that.
Yeah British negotiating tactics 101
Step 1. Exploit and create division
Step 2. Get the hell out of Dodge
Step 3. Try to steal the cutlery on the way out
Step 4. Deny that getting out of dodge was ever what was negotiated
Case studies : India, Pakistan, Iran, half of Africa
