Disappointed not to see the following

Evan Roos
Elrigh Louw
Tyrone Green

Is Nico Janse Van Rensburg dropped or injured?

I wonder if they are holding off the rebuilding until after 2023 World Cup and stick with the players they already have until then.

SA Rugby
“This tour is going to be exciting yet challenging,” said Nienaber.
“The core group of players who played a key role in the series against the British & Irish Lions, as well as the Castle Lager Rugby Championship will remain together as we build consistency and continuity in our squad with an eye on the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
“We had to travel to Australia with an expanded squad due the strict COVID-19 protocols in the country, but with the easing of travel restrictions to Europe and the UK, we were able to revert to a more manageable touring squad.

“We are two years out from the Rugby World Cup in France, and we have close to 20 Test matches before we start our defence of the title, so every match will count in terms of building confidence and consistency as a group.
“A number of players have put up their hands in the Carling Currie Cup and the first four rounds of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, which is great for our local game, and while they remain on our radar, we’ve decided to stick with the core of our 2021 squad for this tour.”
Commenting on the loss of a few players due to injury, Nienaber said: “It’s always unfortunate to lose players due to injury, but we have good depth in our squad, and these are established players who have proven themselves at the highest level.”
Nienaber was delighted to call up Moerat, who has been serving as the DHL Stormers’ co-captain on their Vodacom United Rugby Championship tour in recent weeks and said the lock’s experience and leadership qualities would be valuable as he makes the step up to the Springbok team.
“Salmaan has established himself as a talented lock and captain since his younger days in our junior structures and he has continued to show his class at senior level for the DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province,” said Nienaber.

“His call-up is well earned, and we are looking forward to witnessing what he adds to the squad. He is also familiar with most of the players in the squad having either played with them or against them, so we have no doubt he will slot in with ease.”
Nienaber expected tough competition on the tour and said: “We have built a good base this season after our series victory against the British & Irish Lions and victories against the All Blacks, Argentina and Georgia, although we were disappointed that the results did not go our way in the other three Tests in Australia (in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship).

“Obviously this will be a completely different challenge to that we faced in South Africa and Australia earlier this year with the vastly different conditions and in terms of the teams we will face, but fortunately we got a taste of what to expect from the northern hemisphere sides in the Castle Lager Lions Series.
“England is in fourth place on the world rankings, and Scotland and Wales are in seventh and ninth place respectively, and they are all top-class teams that will want to make a strong statement in front of their home crowds, so we need to get into the swing of things quickly when we assemble,” the Springbok coach added.

The Springboks will depart for a one-week training camp in France on Friday before making the journey to Cardiff for their opening Test.

Waterboy is going with. Nienaber can't afford another debacle like in Oz where he lost 3 from 4
Springbok head coach Jacques Nienaber has confirmed director of rugby Rassie Erasmus will be joining the team on the November tour of the United Kingdom.

How many tests between now and the next RWC? I can only guess that Rassie and Nienaber has decided to persevere with the players we have and build momentum, cohesion and combinations.

I'm not a fan of chopping and changing, but I would have like to see at least 5 new players in the squad. Sometimes players are so hot that you just cannot ignore them.

Not a lot of time to experiment. Look how Jasper Wiese panned out, a great prospect, we had to give him a go, but he came out shooting blanks.

Since Rassie & Co don't want to experiment with new players maybe they will experiment with a more open game plan, a game plan that beat the ABs twice and England in the RWC final

They should start Elton, with Fassi at 15, then they can play off 10 instead of off 9. None of Reinach, Herschel or Pollard are playmakers

WOW! Local players have really been screwed over by Rassie and his puppet opening up the borders.

The teams they play for didn't perform (because of losing all they top players) and that means they can't really be considered for the Boks
"Those players probably fall in the category of fringe national players, where they are delivering proper performances at franchise level. If you look at it, there were probably one or two good performances from a teams’ perspective and I agree guys like Evan have put in some proper individual performances," said Nienaber.

"But the key is now to put in consistent performances and kick-on in teams that are performing consistently, not only at an individual level. It's almost a case of the team having to be lifted by the showings of those players."
https://www.news24.com/sport/rugby/spri ... m-20211019
If the teams they play for don't perform, they have virtually no chance any more.

But by Rassie & Co actively encouraging players to go overseas, the local teams are weakened further, and the better players chances are even more reduced so they leave, and the teams are weakened even more ...

Rassie has really wrecked SA domestic rugby. He should take the job in England

And before you ask "What about Moerat"
Moerat's case is also slightly different in that he would've been in the national squad for the Lions and Rugby Championship had he not sustained a freakish, career-threatening neck injury in training earlier in the year.
"I've had the privilege of coaching him at junior level too. He's come through our system and we're excited to see how he makes the step-up," said Nienaber.

1 from 4 in Oz makes you happy then?
The RWC and the win over the BIL's makes you unhappy then?
Of course I'm happy for those wins, as I'm happy with the 1995 RWC win and the 2007 RWC win and the 2009 BILs tour win and 2009 3N win, all of which happened before our 1 from 4 in Oz, the first time the puppet was left on his own

I would cut the team some slack, they've been in bubbles for months on end, living an abnormal live. I also think we miss PSDT more than any other player.
