Hes good under the high ball. Seeks them out. Cooper, Kellaway and Wright also good in that respect.

The locks were garbage. Thank fudge there's some decent ones for the tour.

Leota's work rate is too low. Not enough involvement. Hooper had to do too much dirty work, which he really shouldn't be doing. Reckon Swinton is probably better, but there's not much in it.

White's direction was woeful. Cooper overplayed his hand, and Paisami was all-around bad.

Scotland will start as favorites.

Interesting reading this thread.

I wasn't worried at any stage, I never thought Japan were a chance, even when it got close. This isn't a thought pattern I'm used to when it comes to the Wobbs.

Wright improved a fair bit as the game went on (except for that charge down near the end). Not a tenth the player MK is though. Kellaway was again class.

I think Japan deserve a bit more credit than some of you are giving. They're a good team and did well to hang in there.

It's hardly news at this point, but they're more than good enough to justify consistent tier one tests. Should be part of TRC ASAP. They're pretty clearly better than Italy and quite possibly Argentina on this year's form.

There was some fair concern that the World Cup was unsustainable given their build up and home advantage, but this game and pushing Ireland all the way earlier in the year show that's untrue. Encouraging signs.

For Scotland:

1. Slipper
2. Latu
3. Tupou
4. Arnold
5. Skelton
6. Swinton
7. Hooper
8. Valetini
9. Tate
10. JOC - maybe harsh on Cooper.
11. Wright
12. Kerevi
13. Ikitau
14. Petaia
15. Kellaway

15. Bell
16. McInerney (thought he looked decent at the end there).
17. AAA
18. Swain
19. Samu
20. White
21. Cooper
22. Daugunu

Yep, and they gave a decent account of themselves versus the Lions at Murryfield too. They're not a bad side, and play a game that Australia doesn't always counter well.

We weren't at our best and won versus a good team. No need for panic stations.

Yeah, that's about my read of it. Certainly a bit messy at times and a bit too keen to throw it around at silly times, but this is the sort of banana skin game the Wobs have contrived to lose in recent years. From where you have been recently, it's a pretty good sign that you're now in a position to feel underwhelmed by a two score away test win to bring up 5 consecutive wins for the first time in yonks. Rennie is doing good things.

How long before Bobby V gets the credit he deserves? He’s become an excellent No. 8. With and without the ball he’s doing all the right things.

He’s just turned 23.

With MK staying home, and Hodge down, they'll probably have to call someone up.

WIll be a different team with Latu, Arnold, Skelton and Kerevi in. Hopefully Tate too, so Cooper doesn't think he has to do everything in attack.

?
That wasn’t a poor Japanese team and we beat them. Scotland often cause us problems because it’s conditions we don’t often play in. But we now have a decent set piece and strong breakdown defence so we should be right.
Last time Scotland played Japan, Japan won, and we just beat Japan.

Probably because Nein/Stan don't have to.

They'll want to direct the rusted on to pay instead of FTA.
Or, possibly, RA don't own the rights to games played outside SANZAR venues, and Stan has paid someone who has the contract for Japan games to carry the broadcast?

You really are a fucking moron. I said he'd gotten fitter and more mobile in camp and off the piss, and improved his defensive positioning about a month ago, you stupid dumb cunt.

Now, if he would learn to protect possession in the tackle and not knock it on all the time, he might start to deserve his spot.

I agree.

It wasn't the best Wallaby performance of recent times, they played to the level of the opposition instead of putting them to the sword, but Japan is a very decent side. It was a solid win against decently good opposition.

I won't be crying myself to sleep after that. I'm not pumped full of confidence either mind. More just, "meh ... I'll take the win ... we'll see where we are at next game".

I was Paisami's biggest cheerleader for playing 12, but this year he just seems to make the wrong decision almost every time...

And it's hard not to see the correlation between the long, loopy intercept cutout passes return the first game Kerevi is unavailable.

Breakdown has been an issue all year though, but having notched up wins against SA and Argentina I'm hoping we can do enough there to get some big scalps up north.

C'mon mate. Valetini has looked great. Better with every game. He was always destroying rucks but now he's hitting up like an old-school wrecking-ball No.8 too. I think Wilson is also class and super unlucky not to be in the squad ... still not sure what he's done wrong ... but there can be no complaining about Valetini any more. Whatever early critisisms were warranted, he's put them to bed.

I think the question was, why was it on Stan and not 9. The reason Kiap provided is the one - there is no requirement for 9 to put overseas tests on FTA.
