Talking heads - any good?

Post by shanky »

I don’t mind ‘And she was’ as part of my mix tape

But being reminded perpetually of the quirky guy from Uni who was a proxy for ‘twat’ isn’t that appealing

Change my mind...

Bennett's take on it was better than Byrne's.

Stop making sense is a wonderful live album....the only instance I can think of where the live performance of songs are far better than the studio versions

The best example of this is Judas Priest Unleashed in the East. Priest's 70's albums are probably the most important albums in the development of heavy metal (at least albums 2-4), but the versions of the songs on Unleashed turn the power up to 11 and improve on the studio versions massively. One of the greatest heavy metal albums ever, and that's coming from someone who doesn't usually rate live albums.

Edit - and Talking Heads are great. You're going to lose your status as the White Dean Jones if you don't offer a full retraction, shanky. :x

I can think of several bands whose live versions of songs ended up better than what went on the album.

Stop Making Sense is a classic. The movie of the concert is fantastic from start to finish.
