French terror attacks.
Just got home to read about this on social media. Apologies' if no other thread (didn't see one) or if details are inaccurate so early on in the event.
EDIT: Man in a bomb vest was shot dead by police.

Yet another decent member of society murdered by these crazy radical Islamists.
They won't rest until they take us all back to the stone age.

Showing Charlie Hebdo cartoons in class was probably not a good idea.

I didn't say anything about banning. Just that you might want to think twice. I don't think teaching kids about Islamaphobia is worth it.bimboman wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:05 pmMuttonbirds wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:03 pm Showing Charlie Hebdo cartoons in class was probably not a good idea.

There’s no islamophobia in the cartoons. Not accepting their beliefs is a freedom.
Children should be taught to have free thoughts about religion.

Re: Teacher beheaded in France
There clearly is Islamaphobia in the cartoons. The authors understand or understood nearly all, or at least many, Muslim people identify strongly with Mohammed so when you insult him you insult them all. This increases the risk of hardline right wing activists and terrorists perpetrating atrocities.bimboman wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:24 pmMuttonbirds wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:23 pmI didn't say anything about banning. Nah.
You can’t cut people’s heads off because you disagree with something they said or did.
Well you can if you live in some skid mark part of the world where they think that shit is cool.
But not in Europe.
We have to suffer plum with opinions we disagree with every day. Why are Muslims exempt if they choose to live here?

Sorry, you think that the perceived “insult” is actually something real in a western democracy in the 21st century?
And then you blame “right wing”.
Dear god.
This isn’t of course why accepting the conflation of islamaphobia with racism etc was the big mistake in the first place.

It's clear most if not all terrorists are ultra-rightwing or conservative. Atrocities by both hardline white supremacists and by radical Islamists are bound by their ultra-conservative beliefs.bimboman wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:46 pmMuttonbirds wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:31 pmThere clearly is Islamaphobia in the cartoons. Re: Teacher beheaded in France
Most white supremacists are criminal lunatics not conservative anything .....It's clear most if not all terrorists are ultra-rightwing or conservative. Atrocities by both hardline white supremacists and by radical Islamists are bound by their ultra-conservative beliefs.
Either way your answer to someone with “ultra conservative “ beliefs is to “not insult” them?
How very odd.

Victim-blaming.
There is no excuse for this act.
Doesn't matter how offended someone is, if your solution is to behead someone then the problem is with you and your beliefs.

I'm not sure why white supremacists feel insulted. Perhaps you could explain.bimboman wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:57 pmMost white supremacists are criminal lunatics not conservative anything .....It's clear most if not all terrorists are ultra-rightwing or conservative. You stated that radical islamists were Ultra Conservatives , I’d already and clearly dismissed the other group from being conservatives.
You’re so thick.

You can't simply dismiss that white supremacists are conservatives and demand it be true. Plain and irrefutable evidence shows they are hardline right-wingers.bimboman wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 10:02 pmMuttonbirds wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 10:00 pmI'm not sure why white supremacists feel insulted. Scotland is just about to bring in f**king blasphemy laws, and Wales is debating whether to allow religious schools to teach biology through a religious lens and opt out of providing lessons for LGBT or atheist kids.bimboman wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:24 pmMuttonbirds wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:23 pmI didn't say anything about banning. Another illustration of the fact that just because you have a right to something, free speech, doesn’t mean that you are safe. If you were sharing a cell with a violent Christian fundamentalist, would you press on him/her your right to argue the evolutionary cause?
