It's back! It will be a very strange affair this year and I'm not referring to the infamous affairs of the past!

This year's "celebs" are below. The pairings will be released on the show but the contestants are furious that they've alreadybeen leaked on social media (which I avoid like the plague).

Same here. If any of them are "YouTube sensations" then I haven't a clue

Not seen the social media leak but there's a rumour that Nadiya isn't getting a partner this year ! That's knocked some points off for me.

She's not on the pairing list, which I'll post on Sunday. She's out with Graziano Di Prima, Neil Jones and Nancy Xu.

Poor old Anton gets another "Widdecombe", paired with Jaqui who is odds on to be out first. But she looks as though she might beat those odds.

Bill gets Oti! That could be fun. He doesn't look too bad actually. JJ gets Amy Dowden.

Next week is the first dance trial and Ranvir and Giovanni get the Paso Doble. Tough start.

Well, that was much better than I thought. They've coped with the virus restrictions very well and the usual blogs have been praiseworthy.

I'll post the scoresheets for week 2 when I've got the dances and music up. in the meantime here are the pairings.

Just to add, I thought Ashley Banjo was going to be the fourth judge but it was only Craig, Shirley and Motsi in the chairs.

Some of the background music for the pairs introductions was reall well chosen for the venues where they met.

Just checked the odds. Maisie is 6/4, HRVY is 9/2. Unsurprisingly Jacqui is 200/1.

Unsurprising but HRVY nudges Maisie to top spot. Caroline does exceptionally well and Jacqui lounges at the bottom.

Overall the standard was very high. No peoples vote till next week but the judges score rolls over.

High standard in week 1. Nicola and Katya get the first "couples choice". Be interesting to see and compare the two Paso Dobles from Caroline and JJ.

Crikey! Jacqui has got the Samba, arguably the most difficult dance. Look out for the Botafogos!

My likely favourite to watch on the night is Jason and Luba, because of the music choice.

The original line up for Daft Punk - Get Lucky (Rehearsal Version) - Live @ the Grammys 2014 (below) is stunning. Nile Rogers, Steve Wonder and one of the best drummers in the world, Omar Hakim. (Been trying to catch him up, no chance.)

Also Steve is playing a Marcodi made Harpejji. I'd love one but the K24 is an eye watering £4.5K! See Paul McCartney applauding at the end.

Judges' marks after Saturday. Marks from last week to be taken across, but there's the public vote to come.

I don't see Jacqui surviving.

No great surprises. Jacqui is eliminated having lost to Jamie in the dance off.

Standard still very high. Next week is "Film Night". I'll pop up the usual when the detail is known.

This is a great diversion from the lockdown.

She was in the dance-off last Saturday. She's one of the weakest dancers.
She's going to end up in the D/O facing a stronger dancer very soon and they'll have to get rid of her. They've made their statement so it'll be no big deal if she's voted out. If she was popular she wouldn't have been in the D/O last Saturday.

They are OUT. Katya has been tested positive. Nicola is devastated. The show can still go on with the rest.

Personally, I thought them pretty weak and would not have survived too long.

Latest. Down to nine now. Judge Motsi in isolation after a visit to Germany with her husband. Their dance school there was apparently broken into. Anton steps in.

Bill looks good. All to play for.

Clara really pulled it out of the bag. 29! in week 4!

JJ didn't. He got controversial support from (Prince) Harry as a morale booster but given Harry's beef with the BBC it looked out of place. Looks for the drop but the public might save him with a sympathy vote.

The rest are there, or thereabouts. Bill was my star of the night. What can this man not do? Amazing.

An "interesting" stat are the judges overall scores.

Couldn't be happier for Bill. Thrown himself completely into it and I'd say is collaborating well on the routines, music choice etc.

HVRYYY, the lovely Ranvir, Quentin and mediapersonalityguy have done the same, great to see.

Anton would have been handing out 10s like confetti if he thought he could get away with it.
Time to ditch JJ. He's playing the military card too much and it's becoming ever so slightly nauseating.
Jamie pulled it out of the bag with the one dance that Karen is vaguely competent at.
Same with HRVY. You'd have been disappointed if his had been crap. Salsa is Janette's speciality.

You can see Anton's just fcuking with it for two weeks. No chance he's getting tenure.

Bit surprised that Maisie went to the dance off. I suspect the voting public, who are largely female, wanted some kind of revenge through jealousy.

JJ has finished with the military fetish and is wearing a kilt next weekend to appeal to the Scottish voters possibly.
Jamie has yet to dance a ballroom number, it's all been Latin or couples choice. Karen is shite at ballroom so I can see him struggling next Saturday.

So Caroline gets the bullet, gracefully. Maisie is clinging on with her fingernails.

Not sure why she is unpopular. I'm guessing that the jealousy factor amongst the ladies of this country is possibly it.

In the dance off again. Every time she's in the dance off, the judges will probably save her.

But again. The standard is incredibly high.
