Free School Meals
Free School Meals
I keep seeing mention of a campaign by a soccer player to keep free school meals in the UK.
It's getting as much attention as COVID 19 and the Brexit negotiations with the UK, so I presume there's something serious to it.
Can anyone explain this to me?

Tories keen to see poor kids go hungry.
Standard.
Standard.
Re: Free School Meals
It’d be best to start clarifying that it’s not about “keeping free school meals”
When you’ve read up on that we can help.

Re: Free School Meals
Rashford has a lot of Tory back bench support. If this comes back for another vote you can bet you're bottom dollar on another Tory rebellion and the Tory government will U turn again

Re: Free School Meals
How many kids are actually going hungry?
Re: Free School Meals
Who knows? I'd say from disadvantaged areas , more than you think.
Re: Free School Meals
Matt Cock-In-His-Hands apparently said on TV this morning that Boris had spoken to Marcus Rashford about the situation but turns out Cock-In-His-Hands was yet again lying to the people. Marcus confirmed last conversation with Boris was 4-5 months ago.

I’m know I’m from Ireland and the politics here don’t impact me but UK politics is up there with the US for mayhem and entertainment.

There's a 6N Championship at stake next week, I'm sure they'll stick around for that.

Free school meals are too complex.

I’ve a clue how much tax he avoids with ltd companies and stuff.
Also he could stand for election and then get his policies past.
Re: Free School Meals
It seems only the government controlled BBC were able to interview Hancock about the fiasco.
The BBC journalist of course didn’t pull up Hancock on blatantly lying.. saying he supports Rashford but than voted against the bill.

We,have free school, dinners and they’re not changing. Rashford thinks we should give food to children outside of term time. Regardless of how poor an actual policy that is and that 2bln was set aside already this year for councils because of the pandemic.
He grand standing and the feeble minded are lapping it,up.

Pretty much.
It's an ongoing saga.

Re: Free School Meals
Certainly takes a special type of person to not want hungry children to be fed. When your arguments are government jargon and deflections...I give up.
Re: Free School Meals
I do want them fed, by their parents.
It’s amusing watching the usual signalling , here from people in countries that don’t offer free school meals out side of school but want the British to do that.
The government funded 2billion extra with the Corona virus bill to local councils already for child poverty provision, but a wealthy footballer has decided that’s not enough.
