In a new book it has been reported that General Mark Milley, Chairperson of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the General Trump used as a prop in his photo op outside a DC church, thought that Tump was unstable
WASHINGTON (AP) — Fearful of Donald Trump’s actions in his final weeks as president, the United States’ top military officer twice called his Chinese counterpart to assure him that the two nations would not suddenly go to war, a senior defense official said Tuesday after the conversations were described in excerpts from a forthcoming book.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley told Gen. Li Zuocheng of the People’s Liberation Army that the United States would not strike. One call took place on Oct. 30, 2020, four days before the election that defeated Trump. The second call was on Jan. 8, 2021, just two days after the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by supporters of the outgoing chief executive.

Yeah this is the clown who wants to understand "white rage" and thinks CRT plays an important role in the armed forces.

Milley also put together a plan involving 20k troops to re-take Bagram in the middle of the clusterfvk in Kabul, a base he never should have abandoned until ALL the civilians were evacuated. He knew he screwed the pooch and I still predict he will "retire" shortly. Biden can't afford this jokers damage when nothing is going well in his presidency.

Newsom beats the recall with 66.7% of the vote. Pretty much along the same lines as Biden won the state in 2020.

I usually call out Mick on his weird precious hate of US lefty politics, but this is Champaign socialism and virtue signaling at it's worst. More so given AOCs record in politics of doing virtually nothing to actually challenge, push for or oppose things outside of media statements. But she will do those after dinner circuit bits for 6 figure sums.

If we totally exclude the attempts to bring public attention to issues through media statements, then the only thing left is her track record on introducing or co-sponsoring legislation. In her three years in congress she has introduced 26 bills to address social injustice in various areas and has been co-sponsor to more than 600 other bills, 21 of which have become law.

Obviously your opinion is that this track record is "virtually nothing", so whose track record in politics would you point to as being 'something'? I don't know what would be expected from someone who has been in Congress for three years. 100 bills introduced? 200?

Obviously it would be easier to introduce that many bills if she were to just copy and paste legislation that has been written and provided by lobbyists, like so many of of her colleagues, but if we exclude those bill factories for the benefit of the wealthy and influential, then what is your expectation?

She goes on and on about the minimum wage but does almost nothing in the actual corridors of power. Her virtue signaling on universal health care while not pushing for anything is so obvious she is now being protested by her former fellow campaigners over it and now doesn't attend many universal health care rallies. But she does attend galas.

And even if we take note of the idea she's selling out for money, and we assume the money is going to her not her campaign or other causes she's still calling for (as she sees it) a fairer working of the tax system which will impact her and her earnings.

If she's found to have been boosting her earnings and then employed tax avoidance, now that would be a thing.

This is just wearing a dress, it perhaps lacks politeness on the part of AOC to so adorn a dress, and if that bothers the people sending out the invites don't send her another

And more, in a week when AOC has been delivering some important message on simple biology, and a women's right to control her body, it's instructive so much of the commentary is about a dress she put on

She does not operate in a vacuum. Democrats introduced a bill to raise the minimum wage which got blocked, and House democrats passed a covid relief bill including an increase in the minimum wage that also got blocked. An increase in minimum wage simply will not happen because of Republicans and DINOs like Manchin, whose interests are totally aligned with the Republicans (like them, he's owned by fossil fuel companies).

She's made her position clear on minimum wage repeatedly, and voted in favour of raising it. But on this she's in the minority. And that's how democracy works - corporate interests buy enough representatives to ensure that their interests are supported by a majority of lawmakers.

Her stance on universal healthcare is certainly disappointing. Back in 2020, prior to re-election, she had already conceded that universal healthcare would not happen any time soon. For the same reasons as outlined above - the majority of Americans favour it, but not the majority of representatives. Since then she's focussed on other areas of social justice, but I would agree with you on this and say that the covid crisis actually provides an unprecedented opportunity when it comes to M4A. Increasingly it's a Republican virus, with the biggest impacts being felt in red states with their low rates of vaccination. More messaging out to the families of those who have been hospitalised or died and left huge bills for their treatment might resonate a bit more now, and maybe even some Republicans might find themselves willing to back legislation that actually helps their voters. For a change.

That's my point. I'd wager the USA don't see the UK and any more or any less valuable either way. It only was a special relationship when it can to wars anyway.

Agreed. And would have been hand fired a long time ago. Are you sure you don't miss that 1.69 Gas, Mean Tweets, Low Inflation and Middle East Peace yet? Or your Tds is going to have you riding this sinking ship to the bottom?

I live in the Netherlands. During the early stages of covid when the global economy pretty much hit a standstill, gas prices dropped significantly, hitting a trough in early 2020. Since then they have risen again, and they are now around 20% higher than they were before the US election, and around 40% higher than the lowest price they reached during Trump's presidency.

Biden is clearly a very influential man if he is able to raise gas prices in the Netherlands, even before making any policy changes!

Must be due to Brexit!

That's my point. I'd wager the USA don't see the UK and any more or any less valuable either way. It only was a special relationship when it can to wars anyway.

Widespread issue I believe.

St Paul schools have tackled the issue by issuing Metro Transport passes to all affected students. Not a bad thing, as the Metro busses have a more student friendly schedule.

I imagine he's also one of the morons having a good cry over AOC attending a function where the tickets were $35k, but didn't say anything while a certain fat orange cretin charged the US tax payer $150 million to play golf at his OWN courses.

And the above excuse is made by someone who think Trump played golf while wearing a “I save tax payers money” jumper.

Keen to underline his status as the bored's least impressive debator, Bimboclut weighs in... to say that Trump's actions were perfectly fine because he was wearing the appropriate clothing.

You can tell "white rage" isn't really a thing from all the angry white people raging about the teaching of CRT...
You are the sort of milksop who thinks it is only white people who object to CRT.

That is because you are a milksop.

Milksop.
To be fair, all the black people who object to it are white supremacists.

It's be good if you made an actual point to refute it, rather then just snidey comments at me personally. The Ups and Downs of the Special relationship are well documented, From Lyndon Johnson freezing out Wilson to Blair being nothing but a poodle for Bush and not much else.

Stephen Colbert did a monologue the other night on the Ruddy speech commemorating 9/11 ; and by commemorating I mean joke about yourself being a paedo etc, whatever gets the laughs - he then went on to admit that he might have had a drink and then explained and re explained that he was no in fact an alcoholic - it was fcukin bizarre - it was almost like teh time orange shitgibbon was trying to explain a negative covid test result for himself but couldn't bring himself to say the word negative when talking about himself (is there anyone else these fcukers talk about?)
