So for clarification, who is to blame for the slowest scoring session since 2006, btw was that a pink ball test, just so we can compare like for like...thought notAli's Choice wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 8:38 amSo just to clarify, you had an arrogant swipe at me for simply commenting on the slow scoring rate after watching the slowest session of scoring in Australia since 2006?jambanja wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 8:30 amNot making things up merely a comment, it was you who wanted me to justify it( the slow scoring) I felt I didn’t need to, for the reasons I mentioned, as an educator surely your comprehension skills aren’t this bad?Ali's Choice wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 8:22 amWhere did I specifically blame India? Still is what’s your point, you prefer 20/20?
Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
So far in this game the review has been declined for a "gee that could have been given..." and a couple of dud appeals, and used only once - for that absolute howler where the batsman started walking untiul he suddenly realised the umpire had missed it.
If only captains kept control of the silly reviews and only used the DRS for the howlers all the time.

Nicely poised at tea.
Hard to know what a good score will be - I think Pink ball tests in Oz are relatively low scoring.

MASSIVE wicket. Virat run out in a very poor piece of cricket. That could be a series defining dismissal.

Well, Rahane will carry his bat now. No way he will risk going to back to the changeroom to face Kohli.Ali's Choice wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 11:41 am MASSIVE wicket. Virat run out in a very poor piece of cricket. That could be a series defining dismissal.

Shame to see Kohli gone like that.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
He was arguably out earlier in the day, although, if I was TMO, I have to say I might not have given it. Nothing much on snicko, maybe the finger rubbed the top of the bat on hotspot.
I think Gary Lyon had the right response - not a great ball, so didn't deserve a wicket. [/end]

Game even for mine after day 1, holy hell did the Indians score 40 odd in a session

Guess Kohl won't be happy with his 74.
Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
Did you guys hear Ricky Ponting and Peter Lalor (Murdoch stooge) go at it in the commentary box? Oh boy.

I still think that that Rahane's soft running out of Kohli will be the series defining moment.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
Lalor is a bidduva dick, although it doesn't mean he's wrong. I didn't catch the chat so looked it up:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/7news.com. ... 789772.ampLalor, who works for The Australian and is one of the most respected cricket writers in the country, was invited on air during the third session but his stint didn’t last long.
The conversation between the Channel 7 commentators and Lalor quickly turned towards Australian captain Tim Paine’s failure to review a turned down appeal for Virat Kohli’s wicket.
Kohli looked to have been caught down the leg side after he gloved a delivery from spinner Nathan Lyon, but Paine opted against using DRS to challenge the “not out” decision.
Replays on hotspot showed a small white mark on Kohli’s glove, indicating the superstar batsman had in fact been caught in the first Test at Adelaide Oval.
Paine has a history of getting reviews wrong for Australia but Ponting downplayed the crucial moment in the match after it was criticised by Lalor and co-commentator Tim Lane.
Lalor referred to the Ashes last year, where Paine muffed several reviews that proved extremely costly, and said it simply wasn’t good enough in the modern game.
“Jeez you’re harsh, you blokes, very, very harsh. There was not even an appeal, hardly a reaction,” Ponting said.
“The DRS is brought in for the absolute howler, let’s get that right. If they thought that was out, there would have been more appeals and everything out there.
“That’s just one that - it wasn’t even an option to be reviewed as far as I’m concerned.”
Those comments triggered the veteran scribe Lalor who shot right back.
“Well, mate, they discussed it, I don’t know what they were talking about if it wasn’t for a review,” Lalor said.
“They’re paid a lot of money (to get it right).”
At this point, Lane interjected and said: “So we know what tomorrow’s lead story is.”
Lalor responded to the question by taking a direct swipe at Ponting.
“Yeah, ‘Ricky Ponting tries to defend Cricket Australia again and his mate Tim Paine’,” Lalor said.
The comment was followed by dead silence and Lalor was soon no longer on the air.
The tense exchange set social media alight, with many blasting Lalor for being rude but some agreed the journalist had a fair point.
Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
I think it was the tone that riled up Ricky. Lalor has the benefit of slow-mo replays and microphones and basically said Paine was a deadshit for not reviewing something no one even appealed for.

Australia well in top, but if India can eke out another 60-70 runs they'll be right back into this contest.

They are 6 down with a long tail. They'll be extremely lucky to get to 300. Personally I'll think they'll struggle to get to 250.Ellafan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 4:55 amIf they can grind out a total of 350-400 and bowl tonight/tomorrow, advantage India.Ali's Choice wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 4:36 am Australia well in top, but if India can eke out another 60-70 runs they'll be right back into this contest.

I was about to say Ashwin could hang in and get 50 of them .... but 300 would be optimistic now.Ali's Choice wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 4:57 amThey are 6 down with a long tail. India 8 down
What a soft dismissal for Saha. What was he thinking? The overnight batsmen have both been dismissed without scoring.

India have lost 6-52 since prior to Kohli's run out. This has been pathetic. And they want to be considered one of the world's top teams? This has been disgraceful today.
