Ali's Choice wrote: Tue Jan 05, 2021 5:40 am Up here in QLD this story is being sold as a NSW govt attempt to strip Brisbane of its allocated test match, as part of a wider attack on Premier Palaszczuk.
The only thing stopping Qld hosting the test, is Qld covid regulations- and possibly Indian team member entitlement. The cricket boards organised a bubble in NSW, with a coach trip to Brisbane to maintain the bubble in Qld. I understand that this meets Qld requirements. The Indian players are whinging about going by bus.

Despite the fact 5 Indian team members flouted covid restrictions in Melbourne, the NSW bubble plan is being maintained, following negative test results. It's up to Qld what it does next.
The things is, the Indian players will be living in a bubble, regardless of if they are in Sydney or Brisbane. They have been in a COVID-19 bubble throughout the entire series.

It's tighter now - they can move about within their (5 star) hotel, and go to the ground to train/play. They are no longer allowed out to walk around the city, or eat outside.

Just heard Will P is playing - awesome for him.

Looking forward to game even if don’t like either team. Not sure what’s best outcome for NZ - draw?

Warner’s running looks a bit laboured. Hopefully he’s easing into things rather than not being fully fit.

Warner gone. Not a great shot at the start of an innings.

Assume a draw here would strengthen NZ chance of making the championship final.

Bit naughty of the Indians to claim that "catch". Surely the keeper told them he'd grassed it?

Pucovski looks good and seems to have good economic sense too. I assume that he and Zampa go for the buy one get one free style at the barbers.

Their bowling is excellent, even with one of their best seamers out injured. Their catching needs some work. The batting is also quite good. They won because they played better.

Aust must be going OK if all you can talk about is weather predictions :smug:

Here is a more controversial issue:

Should Mark Waugh have STFU about Pucovski falling across his stumps, and refrained from coaching the opposition on how to get him out? Junior's not the smartest tool in the shed.

I really don’t think the opposition need Mark Waugh to tell them about a batsman’s weakness, I’m fairly confident they could work that out all by themselves, I think you have Junior wrong and he’s actually quite astute cricket wise which is why he was a national selector and more, so what kind of tool does that make you...in the shed

The only decent attack is the Aussies

Example labo isn't a great batsman but still averaging about 60..in another time he's a 40 at best

Labu is still not in good touch for the summer but he is finally finding his feet in this series. Last year he was exceptional. Grit, determination and excellent technique.

Very poor trolling. Let me give you an example of fact based, plausibly defensible trolling that will no doubt ignite incandescent rage amongst your countrymen.

Kane Williamson test average: 54.31 (and it's 10 runs Plus less against India, England, and Aust.)
http://howstat.com/cricket/Statistics/P ... yerID=3817

Adam Voges test average - I forget, but its about 60, including a century on debut.

Voges >>>> daylight >>>> Williamson.

Cricket as a fledgling "world" sport (self proclaimed) is rescinding not growing. It would surprise where its played but it will never become a major sport in those countries.
Ireland is a good example. It has a long pedigree there, they have beaten top nations in short and long form of the game, regularly qualify for WCs, get some local press coverage and other shit.
But they have no pro comp, game is held back by weather and lack of oval grounds, seems as a conquerors sport (internationals only played in the north) and little junior growth.

Its even been tossed out of the Commonwealth games, a sports validation (world or regional games).

Anyway, will always be the national summer sport here.

Seriously, the Indian attack is right up there as is the NZ attack.
You don’t really do cricket do you
You’re missing the point - neither of those 2 attacks are great, if you combined them then yes that would be a decent attack

For Nz both southee and boult are at least 5-7kms down from where they were under bonds coaching

Southee is getting by because he’s got some good variations in his attack but when the balls not swinging they are both relatively inert
Boult was our spearhead - but anyone whose watched any cricket this year would know he’s no where near his best
The main reason why we’ve been successful this summer is the emergence of kJ- he’s been amazing but yet to be tested away from home
And then we have our pitiful spin option in santner -who really isn’t test quality - Ajaz isn’t in the squad and for some reason sommerville
I hardly think this is a great attack atm- especially with a lack of a good spinning option
For India you’ve got Bumrah and ashwin, jadeja is decent on his day..but with shami out of the attack the other seamers are pretty average -as shown in yesterday’s play
India are a great batting side(except for the 36) but overall their attack isn’t great atm, and their fielding is horrible. -they managed to win the last test because of ashwin /bumrah and some poor batting from the Aussies

Ha you’re about 10 years too late with the old Voges batting average story - unfortunately it all falls down on the fact he had no longevity - he was too old to get beyond 20 matches
