Says the Indian Times
Fake news?
The Indian cricket team have complained bitterly about 'prison-like' conditions at their four-star hotel in Brisbane
And ...?
They are looking for an excuse to bail out of the test. Last tour, they refused to play in Brisbane because they are scared of the fast pitch.
Most of their best players are out -this is effectively almost an Indian B side playing in Brisbane

Take out smith Cummins, hazlewood Lyon and things might be close to being even

Of course they don’t really want to play- especially lifter the last test

He means Smith scratching the guard which isn’t in dispute, just the motivation behind it - i.e. one of his idiosyncrasies which he does all the time vs. something else.

I don’t see the Siraj accusation playing out any other way than the investigation finding no evidence of racial slurs. That said, it would be hard to prove that Siraj didn’t think he heard things even if they weren’t said. It would be very difficult to prove that he knew he had just been heckled (without anything racial) unless he decided to admit that.
dont think you will get Griey to understand that. "it is or it isn't"
Noncy's view of the world.

Cricketer on the boundary has a tough day.
Fans are sledging all day.
Player happens to be non white.
Player is over the sledging, complains to the umpire that he heard someone say black so n so but no one did.
Umpire stops play.
Ground security remove slegders, some innocents get removed, little boy cries cos his daddy was one yet did nothing wrong, doesnt get his heroes signature at lunch.
Cricket authority investigates.
Witnesses, some sitting right in front of those thrown out, claim there was nothing untoward said.
Footage played also cant confirm racist taunt.
Cricket world in uproar, labels country, its people all racist.
Half of NZ pile in on rugby Internet forums for a schadenfreude orgy causing sites to crash.
Cricket authority finds no issue.
Patrons sue cricket authority.
Everyone walks away like it never happened.
Next month in another test series another cricket player in the outer calls the umpire over after getting a hard time on the boundary saying he was called a black so n so
24/7 internet insomniac punter calls it a win for the non white man
rinse and repeat.
If you keep denying your country has a problem with casual racism you'll never get it sorted. Tim Paine was doing a Benny Hill Indian accent while sledging fer chrissakes.
Taking the piss of a Kiwi/Aussie/Pommie/Saffa accent is fare game but once you move on to Indian its racist?
Yes it is. White people have a history of mocking poc for their skin colour accent etc. Think Al Jolson, Benny Hill. The UK has a history of colonizing and enslaving non-white peoples. Aus is a predominantly white country with a Union Jack on its flag. Its not so much about the intent as about how it is perceived. So if sledgee feels offended by a behaviour then its wrong and sledger has to stop.

If the Aus basketball team started talking with an African-American accent to the US basketball team during a match jt would def cos some controversy.

That is strange. A quick google shows that India Today and the Times of India refer to him as Ravi as well.

James, you had better not come to Oz or NZ. We have a tendency to laugh at ourselves and others. We wouldn’t want you to be offended.
Foreign cricketers playing in the IPL and against India in India also cop their fair share. While there is definitely a line that should not be crossed most of it is harmless.

Except the objective here is not to share a laugh. It's mental disintegration of the oppo. And we all know who came up with that idea. I think its ludicrous. Like a lot of things the window of acceptability is being moved to more extreme areas. Once the fans hear their own players engaging in abuse they begin to think that its their duty to assist with the mental disintegration.

The line should be drawn by the sledgee not the sledger. Verbal abuse is not acceptable in almost every facet of society including most sports.

No, but it seems that you are projecting your own neuroses about it onto international sportsmen - who in many sports* sledge each other mercilessly. And now you have parlayed a simple question designed to get some relevant background info into some sort of sledging/bullying attack. [* You can't really sledge in tennis or golf, for example.]

However, don't worry, you aren't the only poster here who projects their own neuroses onto other posters and makes wrongful personal attacks on them. Guy Smiley does it all the time.

Why would you want background information about me? How would me being bullied as a child have anything to do with it? It has zero relevance to the discussion. Quite frankly its the kind of creepy comment a Australian short leg fielder might direct toward an Indian batsman.

No, and your failed straw-manning is one of the most piss poor pieces of trolling ever attempted on this forum.

Anyway, you've been whining about sledging generally, not just racism. You also seem to be quite salty about stuff that happened 20 years ago. You seem to have a lot of baggage. Maybe you should see someone.

Good. I'm glad that you'te also against it. David Warner has apologised to the Indians for the crowds behaviour and Tim Paine has apologised for crossing the line. Hopefully we'll see a more civilized 4th test match.

I really don't think the dude should watch a Bledisloe, his sensibilities would be deeply offended by players on both sides

Back to the cricket, India are going to get right rooted in this one imho, way too many injuries to top line players and the third test would have taken a lot out of them.

Yeah. That's why Warnie called him Steve. I mean, Warnie is a deadshit and said his nickname at Yorkshire was Steve without knowing the reason behind it.
