Yep, we should have had a snap lockdown when things started getting shaky but Glady's politics wont let her do that.

Now we've effectively got a confusing inner city lockdown and NSW spreaders have fvcked up not only other states but NZ as well.

Guess I best call AirNZ and rebook for another time (was heading to NZ on Friday, then Sat, now god knows when  ).
Speaking of airlines, has anyone here got through to Qantas in under 10 hours?

I booked flights in Jan 2020 for late May 2020. These got cancelled, of course, but because of when I booked them, I'm entitled to either credit or a refund, and they've told me as much in two emails.

Problem is for some reason my credit can't be actioned online (I was looking to use them for flights to Oz in October) so I've had to try and contact them through the 0800 number. It appears people are having to hold for 2-4 hours and still get cut off without getting through. I've done two stints of 45 minutes trying to get through. I've made a couple of whinges on Twitter but it's frustrating having this $410 sitting there that I can't use for flights or get refunded simply because no one will answer the fcuking phone.

Welcome to the Australian Federal Government paying Millions to Qantas and none of that being invested in Customer Services...

I stopped flying Qantas because they were pretty crap. But my work booked me on to a full fare to Melbourne when Sydney had bad storms a couple of years back and that flight got cancelled too so I got the credit for it which I managed to add $100 to and get business class to NZ. Qantas business class is pretty good TBF, but other than that I just wont book them.

AirNZ have been great throughout this entire time. The longest I've waited during their peak call times is probably 5 minutes too. Meanwhile I'm still arguing with the idiots at Virgin who aren't honouring their Covid promises.

Maybe try saying you're buying a new flight and then get that person to transfer you to who you need, that used to work for me with an old ISP.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced that 13 new cases of COVID-19 have emerged in the community since 8pm last night.

That’s on top of 10 cases recorded to 8pm yesterday, nine of which were already reported.

Eight of the 13 cases from last night attended the same birthday party, Ms Berejikilan said.

“Clearly this is an evolving situation ... given what has occurred the NSW government will be taking action today to limit the spread of what is a very contagious variant of COVID.”
New restrictions including No more than five people will be allowed to visit a household.

Berejikilan has already exported Covid-19 to New Zealand due to her economy first, health second approach to the pandemic.

It's because of her anti-lockdown ideology New Zealand is suffering right now.

Interesting. This could be an option if I have no luck with Qantas. Here's the wording from an email they sent customers like me on July 3 last year:
Flight Credits and refunds

If you were originally booked to travel between 17 March and 31 May 2020 and, on or after 17 March:
- you cancelled your flight (before we did) and you received a Flight Credit, or
- we cancelled or made a significant change to your flight and you received a Flight Credit,

just a reminder that your other options include a refund. If this is your preferred option, contact us for assistance. You won’t be charged any change or cancellation fees.
My flights were for May 21-24 or so last year and I booked it in early January 2020, well before Covid was a thing in Australia or NZ - another requirement I read elsewhere for a refund. I tick every box.

Cheers for the idea.

We are in a once in a 100 year pandemic. Most of what is happening now is unprecedented. We are also in an incredibly good economic position going in. We can afford to manage people out of work for a short period if we have to. However, if we dont, and go about our daily lives, we see what has happened in Europe and Nth America where they were hit hard by both Covid and significant lockdowns, far worse that what we experienced.

Yeah that's what I thought - not the entitlement generation then.

NSW’s daily coronavirus numbers are in.

The state recorded 18 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday. Of those 18 cases, we already knew about 13.

In addition, six new cases were detected overnight. This means NSW has technically recorded 11 new cases.

Those numbers are off the back of 48,402 tests, up from yesterday’s 44,640.

One of Thursday’s cases was NSW Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall, whose positive COVID-19 test sent his colleagues into a spiral at state parliament this morning.
