MOG is going to be very angry at you when he see's that you've started a thread about an outbreak that consists of one case. I suspect he will use the term "fear porn".

Re: Queensland fvcked...
MOG will be angry, Dan will be terrified and working out how to ban anyone from Queensland getting into Victoria.Ali's Choice wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 5:30 am MOG is going to be very angry at you when he see's that you've started a thread about an outbreak that consists of one case. Sitting at Felons having a beer and watching my kids play. The sense of fear is palpable.

It was always going to be a matter of time until QLD had an outbreak. It will be interesting to see how Palaszczuk acts if this cluster grows.
Re: Queensland fvcked...
Love a Sunday session session there with friends. Kids are entertained, beer is decent (IMO), and location is spectacular.
Will be a bit pissed if we end up in lock down again.
Re: Queensland fvcked...
It's the super contagious soap dodger strain. Not good at all.
Re: Queensland fvcked...
Agree re Felons - I've had Sunday lunches with the elder daughter and her kiddies there - and re the arrival of the Pom strain of the plague. Not good.

Long lines of people lining for up for COVID-19 tests at 11pm on the Southside of Brisbane last night. Great effort given it was a really wet night.

It won't spread in Queenland like it did in Victoria.
Re: Queensland fvcked...
Well lets hope it is just 3 days and by acting quickly they can get on top of it quickly.Ali's Choice wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:15 pmIf the UK variant spreads as quickly as they say it does, I expect this lockdown will last longer than 3 days.

Quick indeed. I was reading about it on ABC News online when Ms MungoSpouse got a phone call from her sister in Qld Health telling her the news. Luckily we’ve got quite a few unused masks ‘cause there’ll be a helluva lineup for them today!

AC, I have a few rolls of toilet paper I can spare if you need some?
Re: Queensland fvcked...
Dan needs to slam the border with Queensland shut! Now! Turn back the planes and trains that are en route! Immediately! We do not want the visiting tennis players to get infected!

Brisbane COVID lockdown: What you need to know
Greater Brisbane will go into a three-day lockdown from 6pm tonight after the city was declared a COVID-19 hotspot. Here’s everything you need to know.
Jack McKay, Janelle Miles, Shiloh Payne and Alex Strachan
January 8, 2021 - 8:58AM
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced Greater Brisbane will go into a three-day lockdown after a hotel cleaner tested positive to the highly contagious UK strain of coronavirus.
The lockdown will cover the Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Redlands and Moreton areas.
It will begin 6pm Friday and run until 6pm Monday.
Two per visitors will be permitted to visit homes during this period of time.
Essential work will be allowed, but people are being urged to work from home.
People can leave if providing support for vulnerable people, exercising in their local neighbourhood and shopping locally.
Hairdressers, nail salons and gyms will be off-limits.
Masks when leaving home will be mandated during the lockdown period. A child under 12 does not need to wear a mask.
Funerals will be limited to 20 people and weddings to 10 people during the lockdown period.
Ms Palaszczuk said people would face fines of $200 if they failed to wear a mask while out of their homes during the lockdown.
The Sunshine and Gold Coasts have not been included in the lockdown because the cleaner had not ventured outside the Greater Brisbane region.

On the bright-side, we're getting ABC Qld reporters on ABC News - I vote you keep having a few, non-serious cases so we can see more of the lovely Ruby Cornish:

Mind you, Bob would probably claim between the two for North Qld!

PM Morrison saying that Palaszczuk's decision to impose a 3 day lockdown for Brisbane is a "wise decision".
He's declared Brisbane a "federal hotspot" despite it not meeting the previous federal threshold for a hotspot.

Shops are a mess. Don't even bother. People are panicking despite the fact you can go and buy food during lockdown.

Bugger, I read that too late. Some is on the way up to you. A few picky people on here might call what I have sent to you 'second hand' or 'used' toilet paper. I like to think of it that in times of crisis we find a way to make do, and if you fold carefully you should avoid any pitfalls.Ali's Choice wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:53 pmAll good mate, my wife bulk-buys toiletries whenever they come on special, so we have an entire spare room filled with loo paper, toothpaste, soap, mouthwash etc.

Re: Queensland fvcked...
This is really the lockdown when you don't want to have a full lockdown. It's actually a bit embarrassing to call it a lockdown when you consider what Melbournites went through.
Bars, clubs and restaurants are closed, but open for takeaway meals. As far as I can see all retail shops are still open, as nowhere lists that they are closed. Gyms, cinemas and entertainment venues are the only places that are closed. People are asked to stay home, but going to work is one of the reasons why you can leave home. There is no kilometric restriction in terms of how far you can leave home to go shopping or for exercise.
So as far as I can see the only restrictions relate to people eating out/going out to hospitality venues, how many people you can have at your home (2) and limitations on Brisbane residents travelling to regional areas. Aside from that - this isn't really a lockdown.
