Looks like Brisbaners are gearing up for their 3 day lockdown.

By fleeing en masse and exporting Covid across the State. Well done Queensland. Well done...

1 hr and 20.

I'm outside the lockdown area so I'm going to do a pub crawl tonight, drinking in every pub in my town simply because I can. And I'm going to do so without wearing a mask, and I'm going to leave fake details on entry at every venue.

So if there is a breakout in your neck of the woods, I can expect calls and messages from Queensland Health asking what the fvck I was doing up there and that I need to quarantine?

At what point will you start eating your family?
Given the condensed nature of the lockdown I would think getting the bbq fired up around 2pm tomorrow would be appropriate.

That must be why so many are fleeing Brisbane. They are all rich. And tasty.

May have overdone the alcohol and short ribs purchasing. Best to be prepared though.

Did manage to have a decent run just before 6pm. Running with a mask is going to be a little annoying.

0 new cases in QLD overnight. And whilst the test numbers look low, you need to keep in mind that Brisbane is around a third the size of Melb or Syd, so per capita the numbers aren't too bad.

Tbh I would have expected a few cases given how virulent the UK strain is, and given how many close contacts (around 80) the infected cleaner had.

The news showed a small group of middle aged men gathering in a park in central Brisbane to protest mask wearing. They were abusing the police with the usual "We pay your wages" shtick. They were eventually given noticed to move-on orders, and when they refused they were promptly bundled into paddy-wagons. QLD police don't fvck around.

Sunday and Monday's data will obviously be crucial. If we see a big jump in cases over the net 24-48 hours I not only expect this lockdown to be extended, I expect it to be expanded to potentially include the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. I have a very nice beachfront apartment booked overlooking Coolum beach from Wednesday next week so I am hoping that my holiday plans aren't impacted in any way.

Lacking some beef short rib, but a few kilos of chorizo can make one overlook that.

Yes it would be. I can't see how that would be possible given we had someone with the UK variant out and about in the community for 5 days before she realised that she was infected.

Ass an aside, testing rates seem pretty good. Just under 20K tests, which is pretty good considering our relatively low population.
