So the best I’ve come across is the Kirby, only sold by door to door people, but literally lifted the carpet.
We have a Defy, good but just not the same.

As for other vacuums...thoughts

If you have the space and are strong and enjoy getting a workout when you clean , get a Henry - it’s the Toyota Hilux of the vacuum world

It’s cheap, made in UK, got a happy face, roomy inside, doesn’t need changing often, works well with a long black hose, and it’s good at sucking. (Bit like Mrs Bimbo)

Used to have one years ago when I was living in the UK, loved my Henry

I don't like it, we need competition, can't have a monopoly, which is what you and ER would be, competition is good and ensures that quality is maintained

We have one of these puppies.

Obviously I use the car to tow it round, as buying a horse for it would be a hassle.

Me: I'm home dear, oh and by the way I got rid of the dyson
Dear: Why would you want to do that, it was ok
Me: No, no, everyone told me it was rubbish so it's gone, but I've got you this as a replacement, it'll be fine
Dear: That looks like a piece of shit, I'm not using that
Me: Shhh, it'll be fine Dear, trust me, it's for the best

She’s probably want to known what kind of idiot would buy the dyson cordless when Miele make a much better cordless for the same money

Basically most houses need two vacuum cleaners - a plug in and a cordless. The cordless are great but couldn’t rely on them as your only hoover. I reckon a good combo is a Miele plug in and a dyson cordless. Dyson isn’t the best quality cordless - Samsung and Miele make much sturdier models - but is the best balance of being lightweight and price. The Miele is too heavy for most women and the Samsung is twice is the price.

Surely you need a wet vacuum and also an ash vacuum as well.
I think the days of having a fire or a stove in your house are numbered

I doubt that
I was listening to an environmental expert on the radio the other day. Basically said if you still have an open fire you’re a scumbag. Stoves are a bit better but he said you’re still a bit of geebag. Right thinking people who are also gentlemen and scholars use heat pumps and solar panels....

There is absolutely nothing better than a real fire on a winter's night. Heat pumps only really work in new builds (or with geothermal) and solar panels take too long to pay for themselves as the technology currently stands. A multi-fuel approach is best.

And insulation. Lots and lots of insulation.

I have to nip out this afternoon to pick up a gift for the Mrs. She's not going to like it but she's going to have to stew silently, which is always a good thing.

A Karcher steam cleaner. Apparently. Hard water area. Cleaning bathrooms. Wood flooring. Dog. Covid. Somesuch. Been listening to the whining for weeks. This must be what it's like to live in Northern Ireland.

Happy International Womens Day dear. This should be fun.

You really shouldn't lend Dark your login details.

But, I too thought this would be about a political/military type of power vacuum too.

Anyway, I'm an Electrolux cordless stick vacuum user. I can never go back to a corded old style one.

Obviously do not have dogs.

As an earlier poster stated you need several, especially if you live in the country, have dogs and three woodburners. We have a cordless (Bosch), corded (Henry), and ash (Vonhaus). We don not have a wet and dry, but just use our George carpet cleaner for wet.
