The Official Positive Benefits of Brexit Thread
This is a thread of record for the benefits of Brexit.
Now that we are a fortnight out of transition it is time to start assessing the tangible positives.
Elsewhere we have only negativity, but somewhere there must be something positive.
It is the Life of Brian moment, "What have the Romans ever done for us?"
I hope the Brexit supporters can start the thread rolling with benefits that can be acknowledged (though some may be grudgingly so).
Obviously blue passports do not pass this test as they were possible within an EU context.
All aspects that were similarly possible are not valid, ie vaccine
Rascict/sectarian/bigoted aspects will also not be accepted, because a) For the last 20 years UK has mostly chosen it's own course, b) bored rules, c) common decency.
The very loose idea of regaining sovereignty is also invalid until it can actually be shown to have brought some acknowledgeable benefit. Regaining sovereignty, but not changing anything was the status qou within the EU, so any benefit in leaving is intangible.
OK folks, off you go.
Benefits:
1)Duty Free has returned

UK can now work properly with the Commonwealth to promote that body. Think of all the trade available with Canada, Australia, NZ etc.

I was hoping one of the benefits of Brexit was less talk of Brexit.

A longer term positive will be the news item in 2028 with arch leaver Dave Mimbles from Hartlepool talking about Farage living off his Russian pension in Muscat

Re: The Official Positive Benefits of Brexit Thread
The fish in UK waters have blue passports now and have a smile on their face too (according the Rees-Mogg). Well the fishies not rotting on the export docks in England.

Re: The Official Positive Benefits of Brexit Thread
ER, what’s England, Wales and Scotland’s official position on their poaches? Has the SH commonwealth been included as within the Brexit “circle of trust”?

Free travel area between UK and Ireland could benefit Irish tourism with more UK visitors who don't want EU travel restrictions (and who do want the duty-free).
Re: The Official Positive Benefits of Brexit Thread
It is done. Britain is gone.
We can finally move forward.
We can finally move forward.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand we are back to Mrs Bimbo
Re: The Official Positive Benefits of Brexit Thread
No problem letting you in Jim. Winnie on the other hand, crickey I don’t know. A bit of a conundrum. Not sure if he’d adjust well to the new alignment. Maybe give him a trial period in Kerry or Limerick to see how he integrates.

If you really do want to classify class II bananas as class I, your taste must be pretty crap.

Brexit is the new Famine, all the Nordies will have to emigrate or starve to death

Re: The Official Positive Benefits of Brexit Thread
As a leave voter, I am very happy. This is definitely a tangible benefit.

My £8 bottle of whisky agrees that the return of duty free is a benefit.
I have updated the op accordingly.
I could have mentioned it myself, but I left that goalmouth open for the reacharound boys.
Instead of scoring though they're still hitting wides with fish and bendy bananas.
