Are eggs the best food ever?

Post by feckwanker »

You can do nearly everything with them. Socially acceptable to eat at any time of day. Healthy. Eggs benedict.

I say yes.

Speaking as someone who's attempted a Keto/Dukan diet...you can certainly get fed up of the fuckers.

P.S. The right answer is bacon.

Eggs are amazing , I could give up meat before eggs.
My order of preference is poached duck eggs, poached normal eggs, fried eggs, soft boiled , hard boiled, daylight , omelette

HAVE to have them runny and yolky, on a steak with chips, or burger, or fry up, or with sausages, or gammon chips peas pineapple onion rings - they are immense.
I actually think I prefer eggs, to tits. And i fûcking love tits.

Were you eating them in the same style though? The beauty of them is that you can jazz them up so easily. A few years ago when I was proper training I'd eat 4 every morning for months - never got bored of them.

Bacon is a good shout but not as versatile.

Poached used to be my thing until a mate cooked me scrambled like Gordon.

https://youtu.be/PUP7U5vTMM0

Now it’s about the only way I have them for breakfast.

The scrambled in that pic are overdone and the reason I never liked it that way as a kid.

I honestly put the fact I ended up 4inches taller and 2 stone heavier than my brother , down to my love of eggs. According to the height chart in my parents old house we were pretty close growing up until about 13 and then I powered ahead. But we had the same diets growing up, just I used to smash 3-4 eggs when he’d have just one.

Hard boiled is an abomination.

Caffs who overfry or overpoach the eggs should be closed down.

Hard boiled if gone cold and had with a salad are fab - but hot and served in an egg holder are utterly ruined. Completely agree with you re the closing down.

There is this romanian starter thing where you get hard boiled eggs, halve them ,scoop out the yolks, mix them with mayo and some spices and in some versions fish, and put the mixture back in. Nom nom nom

Something like this

100% agree. I started eating eggs daily as part of a low carb diet 18 years ago and have never looked back. Omelette or poached are my two favorites but also happy with fried or scrambled. Nothing wrong with soft boiled egg either.

I like the organic blue eggs that have popped up recently. Actually taste like eggs as well as look like them.
Can't beat duck eggs from the farm though.

Similar-ish to the Ramsay link I posted above. The trick being taking time to heat through. Scrambled really are a most fantastic way to eat eggs when done well.

The Sherry vinegar finish is also sublime. They end up the consistency of butter but taste of eggs.

Interesting that Ramsey says not to add salt to the eggs while cooking while Heston does.

Yep - and omelettes should be a little bit runny in the middle (when folded) - if they are cooked firm, all over, they lose all their flavour.

Eggs are really excellent - I'm just about to use some to make pancakes for lunch 8)

Yesterday we mashed avocado, with a little bit of freah lemon juice, on toast - and a poached egg on top. Very tasty indeed. Going to try it with some smoked salmon tomorrow.

I'm not a fan of Hollandaise. We would have added the spinach - we just didn't have any to hand.

Oh really ? That’s odd as it’s kinda mayo with lemon juice
For me it’s an egg sauce that I only eat with eggs

Yes, with a caveat. Once fertilised, hatched, fully grown and then slaughtered, eggs are the best.

I shall try it again - really haven't had it for many years - I never used to like Mayo either.

I'm quite fond of chapin... a Guatemalan breakfast with scrambled eggs, cheese, sautéed black beans, and plantains served with tortillas.

And Carbonara... Pasta, a couple of eggs/egg yolks, guanciale, and a shit tonne of pecorino and pepper... and that's it.
