I will take the liberty of answering on His behalf.

LSL at 6, Valetini to come on at 60 or even earlier to go berserk. LSL into the middle of the row.

We are a bit worried about the lineouts, would prefer to start with the best possible targets, all things being equal.
If defense is the issue, LSL has been shown up massively at 6 due to lacking pace...

Yep, lacks the mobility to be a test backrower...

He is also a much, much better lock... which is a position we're light on talent for.

No FF... Billy Pollard on the bench.

They did put on a couple of strong scrums at some point in the second half, but I can't recall off the top of my head who the personnel were?

Having said that their scrum looked alright early in the match, but then quickly went to shit...

They're really missing Slipper and Neville.

Hopefully Lonergan is spending extra time packing scrums at training, because his all round game otherwise is excellent.

You know, I fully expect that after the Wallabies lose against NZ 5-blot in this year's further expanded Bledisloe, after Ritchie Mo'uaga scores 8 tries down the blind off set piece scrum moves, Slimmy, towny, Zakar et al will all be in here telling me that valetini is the best #6 of all time, and there is nothing wrong with his defence.

Is Valetini actually on the field in this example? Or have you, again, confused him for another player of PI appearance?

Sluggy... the slender Gordon Bray?

Swinton is quality those lads giving him shit wouldn't know a blindside flanker from a bar of soap.

There's a problem there with a bit too much uncontrolled aggression, but that's a f-ck load better than too little aggro. Once he gets a handle on that he's going to be a star. If it wasn't for that red card in the dying minutes he would have nailed-down his place in the squad with his performance today. As it happens he may well have brain-farted his way out of the squad. Them's the breaks sometimes.

If he's available he might still get selected. But probably not.

I wouldn't be shocked either way. But if he does happen to be given a chance, I look forwards to having a laugh at the the howls of protest on PR.

While I'm on a roll saying stuff people will give me shit for, Carter Gordon is a very classy young fly-half. Only 20 years old too. Watch that space.

Yeah Carter Gordon has been brilliant for Rebels, one of the shining lights in a pretty poor season for Rebels. Can control the backline, can put players through gaps and not afraid to tackle players. Shame he only got to play a few games. They really should have started him ages ago as Toomua has been rubbish most of the year.

I think between Gordon, Harrsion, the other Tahs flyhalf and Lolesio, the flyhalf position is looking pretty good.

I have not suggested a tahs player should be picked now, The young guy who plays 6/8 needs to be worked up in the wobs squad, and will quite likely be a 100 test Wallaby and captain in future years, but he needs to serve his apprenticeship.

In the meantime according to zakar and slimmy we need to pick blokes who would be front rowers in rugba loig, because they do good ball carrying hit ups. Unfortunately they can't move 3m laterally to make a tackle, but apparently we're supposed to overlook that.

The ABs are going to humiliate our team if Rennie doesn't teach Valetini & co how to get off the scrum fast and move his bulk into the inside blind channel. This would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Harrison is pretty average, but he can consistently slot kicks at goal which is worth it's weight in gold and something I've been banging on about for literally a decade. It's a must-have in the squad, even if you leave a more talented player out to make room for the goal-kicker. It's that important. It's so important that there hasn't been a world-beating rugby team in living memory without an outstanding - not good, an absolutely outstanding - goal-kicker.

I'm not saying Harrison is awesome, just that ability adds a lot of weight to his value. Even if that guy is not kicking goals, just the threat completely changes the gameplan for the other team.

It’s Swinton’s 4th red card in 2 years…

He generally gives away too many penalties, hasn’t made a lot of impact in attack or defence all year, and he needs to massively up his work rate.

That red card might’ve been the first ruck he was sighted at for a while, and as Aussie Mick up there would say - “it’s not rugby loig.”

You're right the red cards are a significant problem. Swinton has had one job since his enormous Wallaby debut: prove you can do it without being a liability. And he's fluffed that. He must be spewing and will be lucky if he makes the squad because of that alone.

The rest of it I dunno what you're watching. You reckon he's not putting in enough? Weird perspective but okay.

It’s hard to get off it fast when its going backwards or under pressure. Hopefully Rennie and co can put together a decent scrum. It’s Valentini then daylight at 6 or you could switch he and Wilson around. Wilson is more skilled as an 8 controlling the pill at the base and should stay there.

Good call on Carter Gordon - def a player to watch.

Is Uru (spelling?) - the Fijian/Aussie lock - back rower available?

At least he’s a good line out option and supports a fast game (if that’s what Aus are playing).

Not sure what strategy Rennie is building but I hope it’s a fast / passing game.

Btw, given the NZ teams won 23 of the 25 TT matches, if Rennie can put together a Wallaby team that's even remotely competitive with the AB's then he will be doing extremely well, and Ian Foster should be put down and rendered into dripping.

I'm pretty tame when it comes to piling shit on people. At least I try to be.

Whatever. You don't rate Swinton, fine. I do. His running game is fine. His stats -- and measuring players by stats is over-rated -- weren't even bad, especially in a team that got smashed. And I agree he needs to control his aggro to get to the next level and will be lucky to get a spot on the back of another red card when his whole mission this year was to prove he isn't a liability in that regard.

I won't be shocked if he does though. Especially since that red was pretty arguable. When he's available after whatever sanctions he cops. He is young and has a lot to offer.

I'm giving him shit because he's red card penalty magnet. He's quality otherwise.

However, its kind of like praising a sports car that's got great acceleration, corners beautifully, but they just forgot to install brakes. Its kind of a big deal.

Here we go... a 38 man squad, but still a few surprises in there:

Wallabies squad for 2021 eToro France Series (Test caps, Harvey Norman Super Rugby side and age)

*Uncapped players

Allan Alaalatoa (43, Brumbies, 27)
Tom Banks (11, Brumbies, 26)
Angus Bell (3, NSW Waratahs, 20)
Filipo Daugunu (5, Queensland Reds, 26)

Simone's form has certainly been mixed this year, but surprised to see Foketi there in his place.

A few of those will drop out through injury/suspension. Bases are pretty well covered.
No Rodda?

Just noticed Hosea didn't make the cut... big surprise - he and the Neville were the two best locks in Super Rugby Au.

Hosea seems very unlucky to miss out. I'd take him over Swain and Timani every day of the week. Be interested to hear what the issue with him is.

Happy for Melbourne boys like Pone and Leota, the pathways are working. Excited for Kellaway too, I think he's a proper player.

Some fun players in there, wonder what the 23 ends up looking like.

A few players in there Im a little surprised about. Foketi is very lucky, and so is Swinton. Really surprisd at Kelleway and for me Muirhead is a great player that I think has peaked at super level. But happy to be proved wrong.

Surprised at no Hosea and Ive been very impressed with Leota so glad he gets a shot.

Well, enough of the partisan stuff now, time to get behind the team!

I’ll pick Uru, and maybe that 6 from the Brumbies (Stowers?)
