Poor form for wanting to generate chat about this game?

I'm happy for Enzedder or one of his Mod-mates to delete this thread if Canes fans are offended. I'm sure one of them will be bothered putting together a 'lazy' match thread by Thursday or Friday this week.

So Crusaders fans, any changes for this week's match. That was a genuinely poor performance from our team on Friday night and if Robertson is going to drop anyone than this would be an ideal time.

The thing is, there weren't many players who stood out to be dropped. As a team across all 23 players we were just flat. And insipid. I don't think there'll be significant changes, but I'd like to see Reece return at 14 and Fetcher Newell come onto the bench.

I thought Bridge was pretty good actually, for a first game back in a while. In a team that performed poorly, his effort was steady and he did a few good things.

I'm reluctant to single players out in such a poor overall performance. It's unfair really. A good coach will address the mindset and find what it was that led to such a complacent display... and scapegoating for the hell of it doesn't rub. The whole team was clearly off the boil. I wonder if it was media speculation about Razor and the England job that had them distracted. Regardless, their pride should be driving them to atone for their mortal sin.

All that said, a long and menacing chat with the front row is well overdue.

Crusaders fans are nervous about this match having seen the Crusaders get comprehensively out played this weekend. Canes fans are nervous for the same reason.

Hurricanes fans should actually be very excited about this match. The Crusaders played terribly on Friday, and despite losing as well I thought the Hurricanes looked pretty good against the Blues.

The Highlanders won breakdown turnovers for fun against the Crusaders, and Savea and Kirifi will have a field day in this facet of play. The Crusaders have no-one who can compete with those two at the breakdown, they'll be winning turnovers and penalties for fun. Literally whenever they choose to.

The Hurricanes issue will be in the halves and at set piece time.

Kirifi has now become a card magnet and constantly gets pinged for stupid ruck penalties.

Our loosies play way to expansive and suffocate our backline flow instead of clearing out rucks as they are supposed to.

Our lock pairing of Scrafton and Blackwell is not strong enough to compete at lineout and scrums, plus they don't offer an attacking acumen or any notable defensive qualities.

Our props bar Lomax are some of the worst in the comp. Armstrong is too fat and lazy and runs out of puff midway thru the first half.

We have never statistically dominated at set piece and this is where the Crusaders can exploit us hammering away with lineout drive after lineout drive.

Canes 9/10 halves are the worst in the competition, they don't even look like club players.

I don't have the codes to do that. I still reckon that there should have been just one thread for the whole comp

I think our individual match threads are still sizeable enough to warrant being created. Only just though. The problem with single tournament threads is that they inhibit any post-match discussion. The next match starts and chat about the previous game ceases.

This is always a challenging fixture. The Hurricanes have won 5 of the last 7 matches against the Crusaders in Wellington, albeit the Crusaders have won the last two. And the Crusaders won't have forgotten the Canes win in Christchurch last year.

I'm sure many are expecting a swift bounceback after arguably the worst performance of the Robertson era, but this game is no gimme. The Canes will be desperate to keep their season alive, and we all saw what desperation can do from the Highlanders. With another away fixture against the resurgent Chiefs to follow, this looms as a very tricky fortnight.

I don't think I'd be making mass changes. As has been pointed out, it was a flat performance overall, right from Will Jordan's mid-air tackle in the opening seconds. I do think Havili's decision-making around when to distribute and when to go himself was questionable at times, but it's always tricky when you are losing the breakdown battle convincingly.

Assuming the Real Crusaders will re-emerge in this game I am expecting a 20 point win to the southerners.

The canes have some really weak players in key positions. For example, Orbyn Leger isn't a bad rugby player per se I just don't see him as a 10. Campbell the halfback similarly is a decent player but one would expect him to be going around for Wairarapa-Bush. Other teams just have much greater depth.

Personally don't understand what the negativity in the Cane's camp is for. The Crusader's have had their bubble burst, they're infamous for collapsing close to the final hurdle and their mental fragility leaves them ripe for the taking. They're exactly the kind of team that once they start on a downward slide they fold like the proverbial house of cards.

The coach has clearly lost the dressing room and with one eye on his imminent departure overseas has no stake in this. Like a lot of new coaches he's had his time in the sun but now he's been tactically exposed the team's glaring weaknesses are no longer being papered over. Meanwhile they've lost the Irish mastermind who kept it all together for them. Moreover they've hired a mole for defense coach, the effects of which we saw last week.

The Canes will flick this rabble aside and get on with crushing the rest of the comp.

Canes by 20, just to keep it real.

It will be very interesting to see how the Crusaders respond to last week's poor performance. Wellington has not been a happy hunting ground for the Crusaders, even during their current run of four straight titles. All teams lift for the Crusaders, and none more than the Hurricanes.

I predict that the Crusaders will win. On paper they should win. But if the Hurricanes play to their best, and the Crusaders play anywhere close to as badly as they did on Friday night, then this is a winnable game for the Canes. The Crusader were dire last week. They made 12 handling errors in the first half.

I for one think boreds renowned acceptance of all mean that AC should feel very comfortable as Sophie.

I'm certainly not predicting a Canes win, AC, far from it.

I don't expect the Saders to play as poorly two weeks in a season let alone within two weeks. You are spot on in relation to the stronger team on paper as well, and that is backed by results.

So while it is not out of the bounds of possibility, it will be extremely unlikely. In fact, I imagine the Saders will be relishing the opportunity to get back on track against eh Canes.

Pffft, he will just say to forwards or their coach, "wake ya f***en ideas up!"
The Crusaders forwards will scrum Canes into the ground and the backs will have a goldmine without having to do much. Reckon Jordan will get the ball when either the Canes either drop it or throw an intercept and scream in for a couple of tries, RM will run wherever he wants as there will no pressure on him as Cane's loosies will be trying to help the tighties do there job.
x( Oh woe it is for us Cane's men! x(

Still I will watch and probably enjoy the game as usual.
