Dominic Bird to the Hurricanes

Post by Ali's Choice »

Well he certainly solves their "midget" lock problem. I think he'll be great for them and at just 30 years of age he could also be in the mix for an All Black recall.

Good acquisition - probably means the saders are out shopping for an English lock.

———-

On Bird that is 3 Super Rugby teams.

I got James OConnor and Tony Pulu (he’s American?) at 3.

Anyone gone 4?

Google told be that Danny Lee and Hayden Triggs played for four teams.

Btw, why would we recruit any locks when we have Sam Whitelock, Scott Barrett, Mitchell Dunshea and Quentin Strange already in our squad?

This is brilliant news. Bird plus scrafton is a great pairiing, Walaker Lawere on the bench and happy days for all good hurricanes supporters. Ted will propably cum in his pants with excitement, if hus pecker still works at his advanced age :D

Not really, the coach actively chooses to play his midget lock ... that's the problem.

Pita Alatini played for four, all NZ franchises except the one he's originally from - The Blues.

Very good news for sure, Scrafton and Bird will really give a lot to our lineout and Walker-Lawere as a back up is pretty interesting.

Thank you - few three club players - Pita A I wasn’t aware of (nor did I remember that he played for the Chiefs).

AC - Saders will buy a lock because they’ve lost one (and another on their books is Luke R).

Are we convinced that Bird will be as good as when he left, years ago, or are we grasping at straws out of desperation? TBF I watched him play some NH rugby for Racing and he was OK, but will he be up to pace?

Also everyone is looking forward to Retallick returning, but again it seems to be assumed he will be as good as when he left - and that wasn't at his best - so are we being a bit delusional here and should we just move on?
