Fvcking grub!

He was sentence to five and half years for rape. Seems like quite a light sentence.

Could be out in just over 3.5yrs. Very light and not nearly adequate for the offence.

A real shit.

What a weird story, hadn't really followed the whole thing but just read a run down. Went around drunk after a stag-do to this girls mum's house and did that? Horrible, these guys seem to need babysitters.

Yet still underreported but that seems to be improving. Are other countries just well underreported in comparison?

Worth keeping in mind that he was also accused of rape in the USA. There wasn't enough evidence to go to court and he settled with the victim when she took him on a civil case.

Talk about coming to a crossroad and taking the wrong option.

7 years ago he was the best player in rugby league and just hitting his peak years. Parramatta were offering him $5 million over 4 years (or 5). He turned it down to try out the NFL.

He's been spiralling to the bottom since.

He's known to hang out with OMC bikies and Sydney crime figures. It was only a matter of time until he was convicted of a serious crime.

Even if the incident he was convicted on went like he said, and was a consensual activity, it still would have exposed his disgusting attitude towards women. The fact it was not consensual makes him an utterly despicable individual who I think should spend 10+ years in jail. What a scumbag.

Perhaps but the last 7 years should've been his golden years but instead it was a huge and long fall from grace. Had he signed for Parramatta I reckon he would still be playing today as a great perhaps with other opportunities off the field awaiting. He would've had Parra supporting him through it all.

It's not unusual for star athletes to socialise with bad people, both types are attracted to the limelight especially the party life. It doesn't they'd go that way.

He accused of rape in America too. Sounds like the same sort of situation. He knew the girl and in their privacy he thought he could just force her to have sex.

I think thats why he suddenly left SF 49ers, he was accused over there too.
Now he will be joining the 69ers as playne Jayne Hayne.

He left the 49ers because they got a new coach who said he'd be on the practice squad indefinitely.

The accusation came out some time later.

In hindsight, I'm annoyed at myself for ever supporting the filthy grub while he was over there

Different hemisphere and different specific subject, but still on topic of misbehaviour in league and I'm lazy so thought I'd drop it here.

Wigan's Tony Chubb has been given an 8-week ban for calling Andre Savelio a 'stupid Polynesian bastard', and quite a few in league think it's not a long enough ban.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/ ... cist-abuse

I'd have said an 8-week ban was pretty significant, and sends a message very clearly that it's not acceptable, but it seems that many think it's lip service - Savelio's coach Brett Hodgson also on record saying it's too lenient. I'm not quite sure where my barometer for this sort of offence is set - although I do think it's the sort of offence that might benefit from some training/remedial action rather than just a ban, which is why just upping ban length isn't something I see as particularly productive - so interested in opinions.
