The lack of response from the public is quite funny, no one appears to actually give a single f*ck.
I know this isn't the point of your post, but given the hysteria of UFO sightings in times past, isn't this the real fascinating part?

If I were to remove my "The truth is out there conspiracy" tinfoil hat, and replace it with my "Global non-linear misinformation by the elites to keep us confused and placid' tinfoil hat....you could almost make a claim that the sudden reintroduction of UFO's back into the public consciousness is a direct attempt to fudge with people's perceptions.

Essentially, why, after so many years of denying this sort of stuff, have the powers that be suddenly become all chatty on UFO's?

Here's an always prescient video about your friendly brian fucker Vladislav Surkov who's been doing this sort of shit for years:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOY4Ka-GBus

In fact, I'd have an easier time believing that the sudden uptick in 'creditable' UFO citing is a coordinated campaign by a Russian troll farm...a belief, which, I readily accept once again falls squarely into the whole misinformation theory of keeping everyone confused and offside.

maaaate.

Read the original article they are referencing for their click-bait. This is what it amounts to:

One single ex sub-contractor thinks that he saw "material" that was "not of this world" while working there.

Do you know what this could mean? A janitor hired by a third company saw some moon rocks. So it could even be true!

I don't believe that is what happened, I'm just using it by way of exemplifying how utterly absurd it is to jump to the conclusion that, "they have alien space-ships - FACT".

I know that's what Rogan keeps saying, but that guy has been getting dumber by the year, and lately, dumber by the week.

To be clear, I fully expect they're not really talking about janitors and moon-rocks.

I fully expect that it's true that some unofficial somebody with some kind of credentials is claiming that he saw something "alien" there. But it is still such an absurdly long way off an "official announcement" that they have in their possession "alien spaceships" that the only thing it demonstrates is how absurdly desperate some people are to twist the facts to suite what they want to believe.

And try to wrap your head around this ... just pretend (and to be clear, we are pretending now) it was an important official from the Pentagon saying that they actually have alien spaceships (which it categorically was not) ... apply Occam's razor: ... alien spaceships ... orrrr ... "guy tells a lie for attention"

... equally plausible either way, right?

I think I'll go with the spaceships.

You're right, it is fascinating and definitely part of my point. Here we have the Pentagon and other Government agencies going "well, look at this shit"....and no one cares.

That said, people have been saying that "Disclosure" is coming (not saying I believe that) but it kind of fits with the current narrative.

So despite the massive proliferation of high quality cameras, there is no correlation in the number or quality of videos and images of alien spacecraft? Sweet.
We''re talking camera phones. They are quality as very short distances. They are not quality for objects that are not at very short distances. This is basic stuff.
The point is, the despite the insane increases in technology since the 1940s (when flying saucers first became a thing), including the ability to photograph a matchbox from space, the evidence for alien spaceships visiting earth has remained the same:

Grainy, indecipherable, mostly black-and-white images of a blob.

Why? Already covered: because all the clear images are obviously not spaceships.
This simply isn't true. A Russian cosmonaut on ISIS recently submitted some recorded footage.

You're using you're pre-existing bias to dismiss this when you probably haven't looked at any footage at all.
Yeah? Where is it? Show me.
Google it, then let me know what you think it is. For the record, the Cosmonaut reported the footage directly to Moscow.

I'm not wasting time searching the Internet for some crappy footage that proves nothing.

If it's more than that, you can prove it very easily.

Whatever UFOs are they aren't fùcking aliens. Anyone with even a basic understanding of the sheer scale of the universe and Fermi's Paradox would know the incalculably remote chance of this planet being visited by another form of life. We can't even explain ball lighting yet and people are going to jump on fuzzy photos and radar blips as evidence of aliens? Fùck off.

All of that on top of the fact that they're not going to spend the insane energy resources and hundreds of thousands of years to travel here ... and then just to do a few acrobatics in order to confuse a couple of pilots.

What's that? They have such unimaginably advanced technology that they can get here at "warp speed" or "bend time" or some such nonsense? ... okay sure ... yet they are still so incompetent they crash once they get here and/or get caught on grainy black and white video camera footage? Mkay.

You'd have be borderline delusional to buy any of it.

I’m trying to dig out a reference but I saw a study where rats were trained to solve puzzles under a controlled environment and once they had solved them, EVERY rat under similar conditions in other labs around the world had also learned, as though the information had been automatically spread through the rat populace...

Nice. Fermi's paradox: "There can't be aliens because if there were they'd be here by now."
Aliens (putatively) show up;
"They can't be aliens because Fermi's paradox."

Socks!!!

UFO’s are one unexplained thing. But they are nowhere near as mysterious as single socks. Last laundry trip I had four of them! And I even keep an inventory of missing socks in case they turn up in another load.

I’m prepared to go with Alien UFOs. But does anyone know who keeps stealing single socks. Other than the gnomes?

Carl Sagan, who knew a thing or two, didn't think aliens were buzzing the American midwest on joyflights. But some dudes on Youtube do. His book, "The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark" is fantastic and I recommend it to everyone; especially Sagan fans.

Not only does he pick apart the commonly held theories about alien visitors, but he also goes after all supernatural beliefs throughout history.
This is Carl Sagan - a firm believer in life beyond earth, with strong connections with NASA and US intelligence. He had been sent literally thousands of letter with 'evidence' of UFOs but he considered them all junk.

You could read his stuff or you can instead choose to believe people you don't know, who didn't do anything, who aren't really connected but have worked out how to put a video on Youtube. This choice has a trade-off: if you choose the Youtube carnival barkers, you should be prepared to be laughed at by everyone and be considered a moron.

Also, that is a book I have been meaning to read for a while.

What about the Pentagon barkers? You know, the ones who've published video clips of actual UFOs?

My position on it all is this - I completely agree that of all explanations alien life visiting us is the most unlikely, and unless we are talking interdimensional/phase shifting/near as damn it invisible on approach/might-as-well-be-magic technology, aliens then it's not aliens, but pilots do keep seeing phenomena that they (with some degree of expertise in this area) can't explain. I'd really like to understand what they are seeing, even if the answer is hallucinations.

I imagine the explanation for pilots seeing objects travelling at extraordinary speeds and doing physically impossible manoeuvres are in the Fata Morgana kind of area, but at altitude and with some other weird optical illusion element thrown in...but I'd still really like to know.

You can't video record hallucinations.

Some of the most "impressive" footage has happened a few feet off the sea surface.

No, I don't believe they are hallucinations - I think there will be a better explanation that that. I was being flippant there.

I note that the Pentagon is calling them " unidentified aerial phenomena” rather than "unidentified flying objects"

And that's relevant because UFO now means 'aliens' and the Pentagon believes these things might be something else? Or is that inconvenient?

I'm off to Toys R Us to get a drone and some fairy lights. Get ready for Sweden's Youtube to light-up with confirmed sightings. I mean, how else would people explain these lights in the sky??
