The Super Rugby AU winner vs Super Rugby Aotearoa winner. National pride is on the line.

I don't think you can read too much into this weekend's performances from either team. It's hard to mentally come down from winning a Super Rugby title to focusing fully on a game in just a few days.

The games are the same though - the OPs pic only shows the games each weekend, not the times they played.

There is definitely a sense of disorganisation surrounding this comp. And I suspect I know why. It's effectively a joint venture between NZR and RA. But these two organisations aren't used to working directly with each other to run comps.

Since the pro era began Super Rugby and the Tri Nations/RC have been organised by SANZAR, which became SANZAAR. They do the draws, they put together the schedules and oversee & manage the comps. This comp isn't being run by SANZAAR so you'd expect there to be some teething issues with NZR and RA trying to co-ordinate the Trans Tasman SR comp between them. Moving forward they need to create a new body to oversee this comp, that is separate to both RA and NZR.

Both the order of the games and where they are being played are both wrong… just to be pedantic.

It’s enough misinformation to cause one Kiwi poster to have an embarrassing meltdown in the Saders v Brumbies thread.

Happy to edit the OP, but NZR and RA need to sort themselves out. If you google search Trans Tasman Super Rugby and click on images that table is the first image to appear. Perhaps Google is struggling due to having to pay Rupert Murdoch's struggling Australian newspapers whatever he asks them for?

It will be interesting to see the team that Robertson selects for this match. I expect changes.

Tom Sanders looked to have been seriously concussed and to have badly broken his nose. The fact that his nose was a completely different colour to the rest of his face suggests it's badly damaged and I suspect he'll be out. I thought Brendon O’Connor showed enough to deserve another run. It's annoying how shallow our depth is at 7, I reckon the Chiefs have 5 players who would be better options at 7 than our first choice player.

I expect Scott Barrett to return at lock, and I think Sevu Reece (14) and Will Jordan (15) will slot straight back into the backline. I also expect Leicester Fainga'anuku to return to centre and George Bridge to return to left wing. Mitch Drummond will start at 9, Ennor will move to the bench and Enari and Burke will slide out of the XXIII where they belong. Those changes should improve our team substantially.

The only question for me is if Sanders is injured, and O'Conner moves to 7, which loose forward comes onto the bench? I'd like to think outside the box and play Dunshea at no.20 (with Strange at 19). Dunshea is playing better than both Sione Havili an Whetu Douglas, and he could come on at 6, or play at lock and Scott Barrett could move to blindside.

We're early into the competition, but it's almost a must-win for the Reds already. I think 4 wins will be the minimum to qualify for the final, and you absolutely have to win your home games. As such, I expect a much different Reds side to the one the Highlanders came up against, and the Crusaders will have to lift their game accordingly.

It is a quirk of the Super Rugby draw that these teams have only met 3 times in Brisbane since the 2011 final. The last two have been very tight games - one decided by a memorable Mitch Hunt penalty Before that, the Reds had won 3 in a row from 2010-11, including the final. So there is a history of tight games between these two, and I expect this to be no different.

The one exception in 2014 brought us this all-timer highlight, which is well worth revisiting:

Geez that was a great try by Sam. On the topic of the final.. I agree 4 wins with as many bonus points as possible. Reds didn't get a losing BP against the Highlanders and for me they won't make the final now. Sure can tip a couple of kiwi sides up on the way though

Reds team not named yet. From memory, it’s usually up on the Reds website by now.

Bridge out for the season after an appendicitis. Big blow, but it saves one selection headache I guess as one of Ennor or Fainga'anuku probably would have been benched otherwise.

Barrett still sick apparently so not considered either.

I don't mind Blackadder at 7. Not ideal, but given Sanders and Christie are unavailable that's probably the best we can ask for. Still a better option than Havili or O'Connor. Reds breakdown will be a huge threat though with Wright and McReight.

Bridge injured is he?

Well Blackadder Jr gets around the park ok hope he goes well there. I reckon LF might move into the midfield in the latter stages with Mataele coming onto the wing.

Should be a good enough team but Suncorp is a hard place to play and with that homer ref trying to show how unbiased he is and the rabid Queensland fans I don’t expect an easy win.

I’ll be hoping for a win but a bonus point maybe out of the question I feel, unless it’s a losing bonus point and if that’s the case we can kiss this comp goodbye.

Also pretty clear that Razor shares the opinion of a few on here that Havili is our second-best 10. Not an ideal position to be in, but I think it's better than Burke or Cameron wasting a spot in the 23.

Do Vunivalu and Daugunu ever start together? Would be a huge attacking threat, but maybe not the most 'balanced' combo?
