Guitar wankers - here is your God

Post by shanky »

No offence to guitarists - at all.

But this clip surely is the epitome of a complete and utter twat pretending that art can be explained by chord technique

As if the Opera House is an example of concrete construction techniques

Plus, he has a very punchable face - just saying

Which of the difficult words did you struggle with?

a 10th is a 3rd - what could possibly be clearer than that? :o

Personally, I love the way he complimented Yorke on the way he did things.
An endorsement, if you will, that the young fella (Yorke) could add to his CV, in the hope of getting more than 20,000 subscribers, like the boss YouTuber

I’ll tell you what, though, hearing that Thom mentions Frusciante as an influence was worth tuning in for. But then I always think of Mother’s Milk era JF and his funk metal, I guess his twee twiddlin’ on Scar Tissue and the Like is actually Thom’s precise vat of sick.

TBF, why wouldn’t he mention him. They’re both legends.

Nonetheless, what has that got to do with whether this bloke is Guitar God Thanos?

Only because Frusciante is nearly as far away from Yorke’s playing as I could be bothered to walk to. Let’s hear Thom rip through Higher Ground...

In all seriousness, the guy in the video does a pretty good, perfunctory job explaining things. If it sounds technical, it’s because it is. Even your good buddy Uncle Ben Eller can’t help but sound a little technical at times, and he’s the king of guitar explanatory expositions. I like Chris Zoupa a lot, too, between the pair of them we can learn EVERYTHING.

I’m frankly disappointed we haven’t had more outraged guitar types on the thread.

John Frusciante should be in jail for giving River Phoenix the cocktail of drugs in a drink that killed him.

“Freebird!”

Also: excellent: that’s a lot of deep, resonant emotion that he’s imbuing into that piece. He’s really telling a story.

Thus one has a certain amount of wankery, but reasonably likeable and amusing wankery.
