Nah, it's not. Even the attack is shit. Because they make a break and then do something stupid with the ball.

That's inexperience, or possibly lack of skill/acuity

The shit defence is a result of blokes having poor tackle technique, and lazy ball -watching. Something a coach can work on. Starting with the mental attitude.

Aussie sides continually have one man rushing out of defence, which the kiwis, simply dodge and run thru the gap. Piss poor defence and organisation.

Well done Clan.

Some really strong elements for them, including scrum and maul

When you cannot exit efficiently, what does that tell you? Lack of basics. Where do you start? Running without the ball?

They should introduce a ball to Tards training in 2024.

They left a couple of score out there, could have hit 80 with a little tuning.

Tahs seem to be going backwards... which I didn't think was possible.

Results wise, the Clan couldn't have asked for any more. A BP win with a good points differential. Next week Frizzell and Smith return for a big one against the Brumbies. That could yet turn out to be a crucial game.

Its deeper than that these players have plied their trade in the Shute Shield. The standard there isn't good enough.

The Tahs are leaking an average of 8.5 tries per game so far in the trans Tasman. Ironically they are also the highest scoring Australian team. Has any super rugby team ever had a worse defensive effort? I’m pretty sure not even the Kings in their brief stint weren’t nearly as bad. It use to be that 4 tries was considered a bit of a blowout. The Tahs are rewriting record books.

It's not quite the worst defensive season in SR history, but it's getting mighty close.

Had a quick look and the worst is the 2016 Kings, who averaged 45.6 points against per game. Then the 2002 Bulls who didn't win a game, conceding 45.45 points on average.

Next is the 2010 Lions who also didn't win a game, conceding 45 points a game and the 2018 Sunwolves with 44.7.

Tahs are in the ballpark though, combining AU and Trans Tasman they're averaging 43.1 points against. Just Trans Tasman and it's 56.25.
