Josh Ioane has been playing well since he's slinked back into the Highlanders team after being a naughty party boy.

Interesting stats.

Would like to see it broken down by game rather than a season average, I have a sneaky suspicion that leaking 48 points in a match might not look good for the fullbacks tackling stats :P

But I think the Canes have missed another trick if Zarn is from the Hawkes Bay. How do we always manage to let players of that quality go?????

Despite his origins he hasn't played for Hawkes Bay. He's only played for Auckland. He could have been your 10 but the Canes probably would have f*cked him round like they have Saleysi Rayasi. At least he's been getting game time for the Blues.

Interesting stats. The raw numbers would be interesting as all that could be separating the clump in the middle could be a tackle or two. I would have expected Jordie to be better than middle of the pack given defence is an aspect of his play often talked up as a plus.

That's an interesting observation. Fan boys always overestimate the ability of their favourites and haters always underestimate the ability of their object of malice.

For me the stats for Jordie are in line with my own observations of his defensive ability. His defence is good enough without being exceptional.

The tackle percentage for a fullback is a useless stat. Firstly we don't know how man tackles they have actually missed it could be just one or two. Secondly, the vast, vast majority of defensive errors by fullbacks that lead to tries aren't missed tackles, it's them being out of position to make a tackle because they misread the play. And this data won't show that. This data rewards fullbacks who are beaten so comprehensively that they don't lay a finger on a try scorer and punishes those who get close enough to make an attempted tackle. Thanks for posting some utterly useless data Pakia Pakia

It's not a useless stat. It tells us what the likely hood is of a player making a tackle when they are in position and that is useful for coaches.

Israel Dagg was largely dropped from the fullback role due to missed tackle percentage. He never had an issue with his positional play.

As an outsider, I thoroughly rate Sullivan.

Tall, quick, big boot, good in the air and evidently can tackle.

Yep like most stats, they tell you very little. don't know of a coach or whatever who ever used them to help pick a team.

Let’s not forget some of the great tries Dagg scored for the AB’s .

His first against the Boks must be my favourite individual effort .

Auckland the poaching bastards. I have heard a rumour both the Sullivans are planning to return to the Magpies but we just resigned Tiaan Falcon so doubt it will be this year.

What is odd, not odd really because well Canes and Hawkes Bay, is that the Canes didn't lock up the Sullivans when they went to their Auckland schools and have them play for Canes at schools level.

Absolutely, it's incredible that with their record in recruitment and player management the Canes' could be viewed as having had a snowball's chance in hell of securing potential talent before it was snapped up elsewhere.
Fakatava is the big WTF. If the Canes can secure Wellingtonians Proctor, Aiden Morgan and signed with Wellington from the Poo, Reuben Love, on long term contracts as schoolboys how on earth did they not lock up Fakatava?

Jokes aside, serious questions should be asked of the management down there.
I never joke about this. :D

The Canes are dead set about half a millimetre below the Crusaders on my least liked teams list.

I don't know why you would want him to go to the Canes where they've squandered players like Geoff Cridge for Jame Blackwell. They're doing it now picking Prinsep over Flanders.

Getting back on topic.

I think we can all agree Zarn Sullivan should clearly be the starting All Black 15.

He's shown more composure at 20 than Jordie Barrett and Will Jordan have ever in their careers.

I don't, I was pointing out how shit the Canes are. I'd rather all Magpies players went to the Chiefs first, then Blues/Highlanders.

My list:

Chiefs

Blues/Highlanders

Canes
Crusaders

The tackle that Nonu broke was that of Smit, the Bok captain who was playing his 100th test that day.
