Can’t whinge about that ruling in isolation.

He’s clearly just hit the ball out which you can’t do.

Agree. It’s been a shocking display from the ref.

Hope so, does the game no good decisions like that.

That is an absolute shocker  and I am embarrassed on behalf of the ordinary rugby supporter. If they don't suspend Doleman after this, they should get rid of Bryce Lawrence!

By the way, the penalty leading up to that was a pretty clear case of the Canes 9 not releasing, which is why Kirifi got such an easy shot at it.

Can anyone explain to me what was wrong with the call? To my eyes it couldn't have been more obviously knocked out. He didn't look like he was trying to ground it

Genuinely the most crooked game I've seen since the Rebels-Lions one a few years back. Feel desperately sorry for Reds fans, nothing you can do when you're being jobbed like this. Outrageous stuff.

He was absolutely trying to ground it. You try controlling the ball at that speed when you're competing for the ball with an opposition player.

If he was trying to hit the ball out, the palm of his hand would have faced the sideline. His was facing down.

No he wasn’t.

He smashed the ball into touch which you can’t do.

I know the Reds have got the short end of the ref in this game (to say the least) but to say he was trying to ground that is wrong.

From all the rugby I've seen in my time, I've seen players ground it pretty often. This didn't look like a player trying to ground it compared to what I've seen in the past

It's a genuine shame that the Hurricanes win will always be tainted by the refereeing/TMO controversies throughout, and Doleman's lack of policing of the offside line at rucks by the Canes, and their diving over the top throughout the game. Yellow cards must be about 'certainty' not 'what I think's.'
Now the Canes will wait and see.
