Waratahs vs Chiefs: MATCH THREAD: Sat 12th June

Post by Ali's Choice »

Didn't see a thread for this match. The match starts in a few minutes.

I feel sorry for the Chiefs. They have had a shit draw in this comp. The have also been pretty unlucky. It's funny how they've been considered failures in this comp despite losing just one match.

I hope the All Black aspirations of Chiefs players haven't been damaged because of this tournament, because they were the form team in SR Aotearoa.

Yep. Likewise looked but could not find; and then thought,‘Fúck how did I miss that?’ when I re-opened the bored and spotted your post.

With Zane Kapeli playing at lock, and Jacobson and Boshier starting in the backrow, the Chiefs should be extremely hard to manage at the breakdown.

I note 4 Pines signs and banners everywhere so assume 4 Pines beers will be available. Better than the catpiss on sale at Suncorp.

Not a bad 'tahs jersey, although as usual would be immensely improved with the addition of a collar to differentiate it from a cycling jersey.

Nice try to the Chiefs, and quite easy as well. The Chiefs backline is missing McKenzie and ALB but still looks pretty sharp.

Don't think I can be bothered with this one, the deadest of dead rubbers.

I do agree though, the Chiefs had no chance playing only one game in Hamilton and flying to Perth straight after a final. I can't think of any competition in the world where anything less than a 100% win rate is considered a failure.

It was completely pathetic.

They didn't even do anything. Just "through the hands to the wing".

What a joke.

The commentators trying to talk it up as something special.

That's what you do in the pre-match warm-up ffs.

But I bet he looks great in a pair of speedos. He's all style and no substance, so a perfect fit for a Sydney based team.

Still could be a little bit interesting watching Swinton make his final statement in a bid for a Wallaby jersey.

Pretty sure he's get one regardless although Valetini is the obvious first choice.

It’ll all hinge on his blindside scrum defence…

Because a simple through the hands play to the wing off first phase for a converted try in 90 seconds just bodes oh-so-well for a close, thrilling game.

I hope they provide one regardless but let's not pretend it looks good.

The irony being that Ta’avao gave away similar endless penalties when he played for us. Now he’s winning them.

I think if you’re a Chiefs player, you’d be embarrassed if you beat less than 4 tackles per carry

That’s the benchmark tonight. Nudey run if you can’t manage it
