I don't know what World Rugby think they are playing at.

https://www.sarugbymag.co.za/world-rugb ... es-august/

We will soon be having uncontested Scrums and 5 runs and a kick soon.

Currently we have about 25-30 runs and then a kick x(

But yeah, they really need to stop fúcking around with the laws and police the existing ones better

Agree 100%, the laws are fine as they are, just need to police them correctly.

I like the drop-out.
Far better than watching blokes spend 10 phases trying to burrow over from 2m whilst all the defenders are technically offside and all attacking players are closing off the ruck.

+1

The culprit's expulsion with 20 minutes no replacement for a red card is also a winner.

Me too, there has been some really good try's scored from the drop-out.

Far better than watching a ref make some arbitrary call on a resulting scrum.

Ripper new law change

Analysis has shown that defending wingers now need to watch the touchline, which has opened up the middle for more attacking rugby

I completely understand why NH fatties will hate it

Numerous changes since then as well

It’s a totally fcking bizarre concept, that you’re not allowed to change anything.

I'd be happier if lineouts went back to no-boosting. Kicks to the corner for a lineout drive are MUCH more boring than League's hoof on the 5th tackle.

I enjoyed watching the Eng women's league Covid amendments where there were FKs instead of scrums for knock-ons and forward passes. (They also had no catch and drives but between the 22s, not inside them where the drives are ... and the top two try scorers were hookers with 21 and 17 tries, the first one being third in the total points table. x( )

100%

They love f**king around with the rules in Australia under the mistaken impression they will make the game "better" and more popular (seemingly forgeting the fact that it's booming on the international scene).

The truth is for the game to become popular in Australia, all it takes is for Australian teams, especially The Wallabies to stop sucking, and to invest in the grass roots.

Fůcking law changes. The people running the show back home are a gang of utter morons.

I get it that the laws have always been evolving.

What annoys me about many of the current ones is that they're driven primarily by one country, ours, under the idiotic assumption that to make the game more popular within our little dirt-patch with league fans, we have to make it more and more like league. It wasn't that long ago they were seriously talking about scrapping mauls because, "it slows the game down".

As if a game played at lightning pace is the key to making it enjoyable. If that were true, hockey would be the most popular game in the world.

The only thing that the ARU has to do to make rugby popular in Australia is to make the Wallabies successful, as evidenced by the enormous explosion in the game's popularity down under under Rod McQueen when the Wallabies were killing it.

We don't need league rules, we didn't need to get rid of rucking, we don't need to get rid of mauls and we don't need cheap and arbitrary league tricks like a 50/22 to make the game exciting.

With the goalline dropout law, if the ball is kicked into the try area and dotted down by the defending side, instead of a 22m dropout they will now have one from the tryline. It also means that if the ball is held up over the line in the act of scoring, instead of a five-metre scrum to the attacking team, it will now be a turnover and dropout for the defending side.
This is a bloody awful change. Do they want tries scored or not? The chances of doing so from a 5m scrum are high. It certainly beats allowing the defending team to boot the ball down the other end again. :|

Don’t pick and drive for 10 phases - use the backs and there’s less chance of a scrum, which takes 2 minutes to set up.

Scrums are great but we don’t need them for the full 80 minutes.

How has this got through world rugby when they couldn't even get 50/22 in the trans tasman.

I'm still not a fan of the dropout, it's like they took the 2 worst variations and went with them and ditched the best one - the 20min red card

I'm not a scrumaholic but scrums on the 5m line is where they're actually an attacking platform, and backs often get used after a phase or two. This change takes the ball way back out of the red-zone again in favour of the defensive team. :?

All it takes is one hand slipped under the ball, often a dubious call, hardly worthy of pushing a team way back up the pitch.

If you're in favour of the attacking team in rugby, then this is wrong-headed.

The goal line drop out change really seems to emphasize back play over forward play. You're way more likely to try a chip through if you risk turning it over being held up over the line on a pick and go and if the penalty for not scoring it is 22m less than it otherwise would be. Also decreases scrums, and high leverage scrums at that. All of this seems to benefit the Aussies...

Sorry to say towns, not that you care I'm sure, but I'm with Rugby2023 on this one. It de-values the scrum.

Do we want to play rugby, or do want to play league?

For me, league is pretty monotonous. I'll watch it like football ... the euros (go Sweden!), the grand final, the state of origin, and I appreciate the skills and talent on show. But proper rugby shits all over both of them.

Rugby Australia chair Hamish McLennan has been a key driver of the law changes, which he claims are imperative to the sport’s future.

‘We absolutely have to modify the rules and make it a differentiated product for television. I think the broadcasters will possibly re-engage if we do that. The scrums currently take too long and we want more playing time.’
Just fudge off.

All of the very worst ideas come from Australia. If they don't like the sport, then don't f**king play it. Stop trying to change it so that your idiot audience doesn't notice that they're not watching league.

‘We absolutely have to modify the rules and make it a differentiated product for television. ' Who is this f**king joker? Modify it to look like league? how does that differentiate it?

'The scrums currently take too long and we want more playing time.’ Scrums ARE f**king playing time you cvnt!

ALL HAIL THE HAMMER!

Don't really care for the drop out but the 50/22 is a good one. There's only been something like 1 every 3 games though.

The 20 minute red card is the one rule I really like, especially with the laws being, sometimes, adhered to by refs.
