Current French scrum : worst of France's long and proud history in that area?

It's been a point noted by many posters since Galthié took charge of that french team but now after this new man shaming of the french scrum by the Aussies this time (who are obviously historically reknowned for their scrum lol), that question has to be asked.....and we've yet to even face NZ and most of all, SA's scrum.
Since I've begun to follow rugby (around 1995), I honestly can't remember a French scrum being that weak and getting consistently outmuscled by the top 7 teams.
